Show has gone to crap, season one they dub as a prologue well it got everyone hooked into a certain style of show. To completely 180 it is bad form, this show will never get a season 3.

Show will never recover imo.

Askeladd was such a big character and they dont have anything to replace that with.
As someone who has read the manga your gonna look back at this and feel dumb

I've read most of the manga at his point at least what would be season 3's worth ontop of finishing season 3 of the anime, and it suuuuuucks. Wussification 100% I mean sure it can be a cool story but it's NOTHING like the first season, not even a trace of it really.

Spoken like someone who gave Fairy Tail a 10 lmfao.

The pacing is much slower this time around compared to season one due to the viewer needing to catch up with how the world has advanced since Canute’s ascendence to the throne. Thorfinn’s development in this season is amongst the best I’ve seen within the medium. Just be patient and enjoy the ride, Vinland Saga was never just about mindless violence…

Oh nooo I liked fairy tail one of the most successful anime's in the past decade, what a monster I am lol.

Season one was 11/10 no question but it is a HUGE 180 for season 2, total wussification of the MC and after reading WAAAAAAY ahead in the manga it doesn't get better.

NOW I'm not saying it cant be an enjoyable show it's just such a huge bait on what people who loved season one have come to want from Vinland. Hell they make terrible anime all the time MAYBE it will get a season 3 but definitely a lot of people aren't happy.

Seeing Canute's rise to the throne using his wit as well as his might is refreshing to see animated.

Did Cabute really burn that place just to send a message? I feel like he must have at least spared parts of it with those places only having a very big bonfire to fool this guy. Either way, he's very ruthless now. Loved seeing him. Guess it will be back to Thorfinn now.

4.5/5

Are you kidding me? This is one of the best anime episode ive seen in a while. Beautifully animated and directed... sure but just the smooth progression of the story along with Canute's storyline is just fascinating to me. So seamlessly written and portrayed

Canute has definitely became a ruthless savage. His whole aura around him is quite a contrast of his innate personality but this is the path that he chose as Thorkell likes to put it time to time. Speaking of whom, it's great to see loud-mouth, unhinged Thorkell back. Honest & cut-throat as ever, spittin' some Ireversible facts. That bastard Floki is there as well, couldn't care less!! Canute seems sly and dark but he atleast has his principles on-check still

That simultaneous burning scene is perhaps the most savage threat of compliance in a minute, it definitely painted a grim picture. Canute owns the people which is more important than owning some crown. The crown is nothing without a True King and Canute is on his way to that path. Both the king and his heir drop from "illnesses" and ofcourse, Canute is made king and now rules England. For now, his character looks neigh imppecable & flawless but there are so much yet to be explored with him and I can't wait to see more of his progression

Sound design and animations were consistently good. More than that, I'll be fondling over this episode for a while, I can already tell. Best episode.... By far

Yesss, finally Canute is reintroduced into the show. I do hope he manages to remember his initial promises of being a good king and that he won't succumb under the crown's powerful influence, like his father...

It's really nice to see that Canute has not lost his ideals and humanity after becoming the king. He has drastically changed though. He isn't a wimpy whiny troubled kid anymore. He has vision, grit, and resolve in him all the while still keeping compassion and humility within.

He showed that guy what a war could do to the land of Mercia. He is currently the official king of England.

Great to see Floki and Thorkell again.

Now that was a great episode if I've ever seen one.

Canute is such a great character now, what a development from what he used to be.

Using signal fires as a way to paint the picture of what it would look like to fight him is a damn good tactic.

The music was great, made this feel like a whole movie ended.

Bravo Mappa and bravo Yukimura!

It was cool to see Canute and others, like Thorkell, once again. Especially when we had a time skip happening in the story.

I'm enjoying watching Einar and Thorfinn working on Ketil's farm a lot, but that kind of break was a pleasant surprsie as well. After all, the world is way bigger than Ketil's farm, hehe.

Canute's transformation has shaped up to something truly phenomenal. The moment he started speaking of creating a paradise, all I could envision was hell on Earth. In a way, he feels like Askeladd's successor.

May Thorkell never change. IF there's one thing to admire about him, it's his unapologetic lust for battle & Valhalla.

It’s always good to see Askeladd.

Thorkell is as wild as ever. I’m surprised that Canute has been able to control his wildness for this long. The way kept kicking and punching people was hilarious.

Canute as always, knows how to get people to work under him. Canute is a cold MF, the way he showed him was just perfect.

“He died of an illness” we know damn well what happened

Canute is the king of England, my man has done it.

Damn, Canute has become that dude. Bro subbed England with "ease" in comparison to his predecessors. He has become much smarter and more conveying since the previous season. Canute has truly grown as a King.

We all witness how Askeladd's sacrifice didn't go to waste! Canute knows how to lead. Let's hope he won't turn evil.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

While watching the flashback of Askeladd killing Sweyn, I noticed that they designed Sweyn's beard to resemble a fork, which is a nice attention to detail. In real life, Sweyn was called Forkbeard because of his long, cleft beard.

I like Cnut's character growth. During his reign, the North Sea Empire reached its peak. Thorfinn, on the other hand, is still dead inside.

All this is thanks to Askeladd, he was the one who sowed the seed of Machiavellianism within Canute, and that's how he became who he is now.

The catalyst started with the death of his aide, Ragnar at Askeladd's hands. And from then on, from the moment Canute was awakened from his shy cowardly self, he has walked a path of blood. Quelling opposition through fear, and domination. When he meets his equal, he cares not to go against them in a straight-on battle. He'd make use of his opposition's underling to assassinate those who stood in his path.

At long last, Canute became the King of England. Now he possessed more than just his domain in Denmark, and another in England.
