MOST classy anime you've seen, and LEAST?

I guess Cardcaptor Sakura is the most classy I've seen.

Least classy is a four-way tie between Goblin Slayer (which I dropped), Mujaki no Rakuen, Puni Puni☆Poemii, and The End of Evangelion.

I'm not entirely sure I know what Classy means in this context, if I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's the opposite of trashy, in which case I have 3 entries

• Sonny Boy This one is probably as close to high art as anime gets, just look at who they got to make it.
  
• The Girl From the Other Side Dad anime is never ever trashy, which is why Usagi Drop never got a full adaptation.
  
• Shadows House is the closest on my list to fitting the definition of classy as it pertains to social ettiquette.
  

Trashy is a bit harder as I have both Citrus and Interspecies Reviewers on my list and Niether of them make my top 3.

• SHIMONETA Yes, Citrus may have lesbian step sisters sexually assualting eachother, and Interspecies reviewers might be the first show with a futanari character aswell as being literal porn, but you know what those shows don't have? Love nectar.
  
• The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace This one is actually fairly tame except for how unbearable horny it is, it wouldn't be on here if it actually was porn, because then you'd atleast know who the target audience is. But it's not, even though the two people responsible for it's source material are a hentai artist and the guy who made the previously mentioned Interspecies reviewers.
  
• Made in Abyss That's right, you've stuck around long enough for the hot take. And don't you dare pretend you don't know what I'm referring to either. Made in Abyss is the only show on here that I wouldn't be surprised to find out that its original creator is a pedophile.
  

Classy?

Hmmmm The most:

FLCL, Great Pretender, Koe no Katachi, Bleach, Romantic Killer, Psycho-Pass, Violet Evergarden, Cyberpunk, Ousama Ranking, Healer Girl and Paripi Koumei.

The least:
Shitcom, Bikini Warriors, Estab-Life, Battle Athletess Daiundoukai ReSTART!, Futsal Boys, Fate/Extra, Platinum End, Index III, Nanatsu no Bitoku and Asu no Yoichi

"classy" - Death Parade. I guess there are others, but this is from the top of my head.

"least" - seinen in the vein of Youma and Salaryman Kintarou: cheap rehashes of tropes which are supposed to appeal to adult men. Ex-Arm too, but it's in its own class of problems.

I would say Bartender for most classy and I can agree with Mujaki no Rakuen for least. EoE seems like a strange pick since its beautiful cinematography is the best thing about it.

Eva gore and Shinji fappin' isn't classy.

"Beautiful" cinematography doesn't make them classy, the same way that a gold-plated turd isn't classy.

Every canon episode of black butler is top classy. One piece is top trashy.

Sure but my point is, a golden turd is still more classy than a normal turd. Picking EoE as the negative extreme seems weird when there are anime with sexual deviancy and gore that don't even look good.

I'd say City Hunter fits both one of the most classy shows I've seen (women in elegant dresses attending fancy restaurant/bar/event with smooth jazz playing type vibe) and one of the most trashy at the same time (Ryo whenever he goes mokkori hunting).

I'd forgotten about Panty & Stocking, one of the most unashamedly trashy shows I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Brilliant dub.

Everything about LOGH is classy if I must say, especially how the characters behave, they don't overreact unlike most anime characters nowadays.

Classy: ARIA, Kobato, or Aa! Megami-sama, 3 excellent SoL shows without heavy fan-service or particularly annoying characters.

Trashy: Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer or Burn Up W, both are really low-brow 1990s anime releases with bad fan-service character designs and paper thin plotting.

MOST classy:
Heike Monogatari (wish I could have completed it).

LEAST classy:
Appare-Ranman! (not that there was anything wrong with it).

Most classy is LoGH.

Least classy is Jojo followed by CSM.

Most Classy - Vinland saga, yosuga no sora, revolutionary girl utena, kiss x sis, penguindrum, steins gate, domestic girlfriend, mononoke, ef a tale of memories

Least Classy - chivalry of a failed knight, testament of sister new devil, irregular at the magic high school, no game no life

Most Classy - Emma: A Victorian Romance. It’s the epitome of stereotypical posh Victorian dramas.

Least Classy - Anime De Training. It’s literally just suggestive shots of anime girls working out while they talk to the viewer. There is no depth, no substance, and nothing worth seeing in it.

Classiest is probably either Belladonna of Sadness or Angel's Egg since they're the epitome of arthouse. Least classy would have to be Violence Jack: Evil Town, which is the arguably the anime equivalent of something like A Serbian Film. Also doesn't help that looks super cheap.

this is my personal opinion and everyone have different standards for classy anime and that's totally understandable. Like you said earlier cinematography alone don't make an anime classy.

Yosuga no sora - one of my favourite anime, anime industry don't have the guts to make shows like this anymore. Every sex scene had emotional value. OST were so great, they actually enhances the scenes. And the most important thing the impact it had on me especially in the last few episodes.

If you are fine with romance anime then i like to recommend ef a tale of memories (S1) and ef a tale of melodies (S2)

There's a scene in memories where two people talk on phone and for more than 90 seconds there is a still picture in scene and it's all dialogues, that scene alone make the show classy

And there are similar type of scenes done masterfully in melodies 2 times.
