| Lum's ex fiance huh? I must say, this Rei guy has a presence not just by his tiger-like apperance but also his personality. Lum's rejection against Rei was priceless. Literally a beast unleashed yikes. I actually kinda feel bad for Ataru since he ends up being collateral damage when other guys gets angry. Rei's proposal sure got a lot of girls' attention though. |

| Rei is one of the earliest characters to debut in both the manga and in the original anime (appearing in chapter 6 and episode 3 respectively) so his inclusion so late into the Remake feels a bit jarring. Especially with how Ataru was telling Lum to marry her own kind after the events of Episode 5 "How I've Waited For You" which originally happened way later (chapter 26). They also had to make up a bullshit reason for Shinobu to show up too even though she already broke up with Ataru. RIP "Gun." scene. You will be missed. "To Kill With Love" part's ending was actually combined with the ending of the next chapter which makes a better punchline but it robbed us of this golden scene. Anyways, not a bad episode. But I am worried about episode 10 which will adapt Parents Day Horrors and Since Your Parting. Since Your Parting is more commonly known as "After You've Gone" which was the 44th episode of the original series. While I personally don't believe it's THE best episode of Urusei Yatsura (but it is up there), it's widely regarded as the best episode of Urusei Yatsura 1981 as it won Japanese polls of being the best episode out of 195 TWICE. The episode was even rebroadcast as episode 194 before the final episode after winning first place in the Japanese poll once. It's also a very critical episode that changes the relationship between Ataru and Lum. So yeah, the next episode has A LOT to live up to. I'm sure it'll be a good episode but I highly doubt it'll be as great as Mamoru Oshii's masterpiece. I'd be a bit more confident about this episode if it was a standalone episode instead of being combined with another story. If nothing else, the Remake knows that Lum's Mom in the next episode is going to be a big deal as she'll be voiced by Lum's original seiyuu, the legendary Fumi Hirano. So the post-credits scene appropriately hypes her up. I hope we'll get to see Ataru's Dad interact with Lum's Mom as both are played by Ataru and Lum's OG seiyuus! That'd be a scene to behold. And also, Fumi Hirano needs to pass the torch to Sumire Uesaka's Lum like Toshio Furukawa did to Hiroshi Kamiya in episode 1! I think I wrote a lot more than usual today. Thank you if you read it! |
| Now thats a bad omen if I ever seen one lol. To think that the guy that had a one time crush on Lum would show up now in such a dramatic fashion. Still Rei's one hell of a ladykiller. Cherry though proved to be surprisingly good at translating for Rei though. Rei may have the looks but he has none of the confidence that usually comes with that package. I feel sorry for the couples and the food stall owners at the park though. That night was the perfect setting for proposals. Mendo really has met his match in the form of Rei on the quest to be the most handsome. The scene with Rei and Ran though was pretty sweet. Rei really served to add a lot of comedy to the show with both is forms. Looks like we'll be seeing more new arrivals next ep as well. |

I doubt David Pro and co. have any idea about memes that are popular in the western UY community. To be fair, in the OG manga he does not say ''gun'', but an onomatopeic word/sound similar to ''bang''. IMHO it was a good choice to mix the two different chapters, because the duel didn't make a lot of sense in both OG manga and anime ... the eating contest that Rei loses (how ?!) and the lightning bolts endurance (wtf was that ?) respectively, so it was for the best afterall. |

| Lum's ex-fiance Rei has come to cause chaos for Lum and Ataru. Although Lum wants nothing to do with Rei because of his rage that allows him to turn into a monster. Plus his tendency to stuff his face every chance he gets. What's even worse is that Rei's pretty boy factor is so OP that he ends up sweeping every woman he meets off their feet including Ataru's mom(RIP Ataru's Dad) creating his own harem in the process. Rei also crashes the school where Ataru and Lum is attending, but we find out that Ran has a crush on Rei and tries to bring him lunch. Rei doesn't care about any of this as long he gets to stuff his face. Looks like Rei is going to be stay at Ataur's place for a while. I thought Ataru's mom was handing divorce papers to her husband, but it was a notice for Parents day. Looks like we are going to see Lum's mom next episode. |

| Rei appears! His two modes, hungry and handsome made for a good and funny episode. It left poor mendou with an altered worldview since he had competition for one of his character traits. I'm glad that ataru's mom isn't divorcing his dad, but I just wonder how the school sent a message to a spaceship? |

| Rei makes his debut in the remake, he’s still a goofy lad lol. We not only got his introduction, but we also got the bit where he comes to the school and eats all the food and he also gets a nice moment with Ran, only for it to be immediately ruined by Cherry lol, but thankfully Ran won’t be stopped by such bullshit. And sadly we didn’t get Rei saying gun in this one lol, but it was still funny seeing him ask all those girls to marry him. It was also interesting not seeing Ten be the one to get Rei to come to the school, but having Mendou do it made sense too. Ataru’s mom was also hilarious in this one, gotta feel bad for the dad tho lol, he really thought those were divorce papers at the end. And looks like this is gonna lead into Lum’s mom being introduced, I remember that being a really fun one. And I may be wrong, but by the titles it looks like we may be getting one of THE episodes of the original, that’ll be interesting to see remade. |
| No gun, no fun. This episode wasn't as good as the original 1981 anime adaptation. Not bad, just some of the jokes fell flat where they didn't in the original. Especially Rei struggling to read his own pre-written proposal scroll, that was just done much better in the original adaptation. Still though, the original anime adaptation also had some low points, mainly a stint of episodes with garbo-ville animation and sub-par memorability (Minus the sticky potato episode, that one is the best episode of that stint), which that adaptation quickly got over, so I ain't going to lose hope yet. |

| This episode is one of the funniest so far with some changes to its original stories and I actually really like them. Rip "gun " meme. I like how it becomes a shoujo infatuation when Ataru's mother was proposed by Rei. It's makes sense for not using the have his baby joke. Lum is so priceless with her rejections to Rei. The fact that Cherry constant presence is a sign of Ataru's family being cursed. Ataru's mom is easily my favorite side characters from the series. My favorite moment is when Ataru's mom handing the parent attendance paper to the father. It's a gold moment when he thought it is a divorce paper XD. This will also lead to the meeting between Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano as the parents. Hope to see more dialogues between them, it's a really sweet reunion. The second part of the next episode would be glorious and hopefully it could live up to the legacy as the most iconic in the whole series. Bye-bye |

| Another complicated love triangle commences. Rei comes in to get the attention of Lum and confesses his love to her once again. But Lum ain't having any of that and only wants to be with Ataru. Rei turns into a big tiger beast and chases after Ataru. Lum follows suit. The funny thing about Rei, is that his normal self is the most handsomest man alive. Attracting girls every where just by looking at him. Ran got tough competition to get her man. She tries to get his attention by offering him bento food. She did it with some success. |

| Back to one of the original starting chapters where Lum is learning to live with Ataru, and Cherry comes in with a warning of doom. And Cherry is right in ever sense...because this is Rei's first appearance trying to find Lum as her ex-fiancé, transforming into a hippo-faced tiger if he loses his cool. Lum's mother sure got hit so hard that she's squealing all over him, and Rei just doesn't want to go until he got her approval, and rejection's the only way to appease him...NOPE. Running around to chase Ataru with food and women being the things stopping him, it's a race of comedy and womanizing. Oh welp... Rei is back again, only except with everyone in school and fazing for food. Of all the people, Ran would of course be interested, and Rei's humanly self, shocks even Shutaro of his handsomeness. But, it's not just Ran's food that he's reserved, but ANY type of food, and Cherry's insertion was damn hilarious. Only when he's satisfied with food that he'll come back for more, what an alpha male...that ended up holing in Ataru's home for more food. I feel sad for Ataru's dad almost thinking that he got a divorce paper, but was the Parents' Day event held next episode. Would be interesting to see how that turns out! Absolutely the funniest episode so far, I had fun at this absurd premise. |

| This episode was extremely poorly directed, they lost Lum's charm and kinda hate to even put her in frame. And they also ripped off Kimagure Orange Road i hope they never gonna do remake of it the way they do it to UY. In RT manga mothers are always a menacing force, they can in very best condition be rather indifferent to their children, like Kagome's mother, but most of times they almost an enemy. Name any and check it yourself. They failed to even recognise it, to analise what they do here. Eternal C graders. |

| There was some great animation this episode, especially with Rei’s transformations. Also lol, I hope Rei become Atarus dad. |
| Now we know where Ataru gets his lecherous ways from, and it ain't his dad. But this was a fun episode, I really enjoyed when Lum went flying after Ran came back with a better lunch. |
