| As much as I love K-On, one character by the name of Mio just throws a monkey wrench into the works. I seldom like these school idol/genius archetypes. It's a hard sell giving such a character crippling social anxiety. You'd think she'd eventually let the adoration go to her head... Little Busters. It's also got a "miss perfect" archetype but unlike K-On's Mio, Kurugaya exudes confidence and all the girls in school hate her guts! but she just dgaf. Now, that's more like it. The rest of the cast all have interesting twists on the typical anime girl personalities except for the stock, robotic, personality-less kuudere one. Rozen Maiden's cast is great. You've got a lot of distinct personalities there. The haughty one, the trickster, the tomboy, the childish one, the dummy, the edgelord and the psycho. | FMA03. Dante, Rose, Riza, Izumi. Brotherhood doesn't have Dante, Rose doesn't come back and Riza is there to make Mustang look cooler. Izumi was good though. |
| Probably Pokémon tbh. The Pokémon franchise has a really good balance between male and female characters in powerful positions and the female main characters aren't really shafted like a lot of other battle Shonen do. Misty was literally a Gym Leader travelling with Ash and has pulled her weight many times throughout those early seasons. May, Dawn, and Serena while their main goals and aspirations may have been more in the beauty and performance side of Pokémon, they were also pretty powerful trainers in their own right. Just like in the Black and White 2 video games, Iris went on to become Unova Champion in the Journeys anime and ended up literally becoming one of the top 8 highest ranked trainers in the world. With main antagonists Jessie from Team Rocket, while technically a gag character since the Team Rocket Trio are rather comedic main antagonists for the anime, she is pretty much the brains of the group being the smartest and most capable one of the three. Outside of what would be considered main characters, there are quite a few powerful female trainers we see in the franchise that are in roles of power. There are tons of female Gym leaders and there are 2 prominent female champions outside of Iris with Cynthia and Diantha. Pokémon is probably one of the best in these regards out of all the Shonen anime I've seen personally but there are probably much better ones tbh |
