I'm halfway through this series and I'm really loving it, even more so as a footy fan. Any real life players you'd like to compare the MC (or any other characters) to? I am understanding that he's being put as a FB which makes sense since modern FBs are supposed to be more attacking. Similar to Alba or Evra?

Also yeah I'm also a fan of how this series brings to light the trials and tribulations of academy football, this shit is never easy and it is always so hard to break through.

They're playing him more as a wing-back rather than a true full back IMO which basically makes him a midfielder but whatever.

Always reminds me of Chelsea's 2016-2017 season under conte with their 5-2-3 formation which would make Ao here Alonso.

Kaneda kind of reminds me of Diego Costa. Big strong striker who plays kinda dirty and everyone sort of dislikes but puts up with because they do the job.

Akutsu reminds me of Pepe. Not because they're both defenders but because they're both giant assholes.

yeah he does play in defense but i'd say his level of spatial awareness is more similar to that of midfielders like ozil, iniesta, xavi and de bruyne. but that's only in regards to his vision.

had be been more technically gifted, he would've prolly actually been a midfielder or even a central attacking midfielder.

Oh I love the Pepe comparison, he's a massive asshole tbf...

Is 3 at the back the system they play with throughout the show?

They also want him to act as a playmaker whilst in FB which gives me vibes of Liverpool's FBs (Trent and Robertson) where they're expected to create the majority of chances
