Great episode; I didn't think it was possible for Franky to be more awesome than he already was, but this episode made him shine. I can't wait to see their new ship!

No matter how much effort Franky puts in their new ship.. I don't think it can replace Going Merry (maybe it isn't even supposed to *doh*), but I wouldn't be surprised if it does though.

And - oh mi gosh - what's this about Luffys grandpa?! Crazy x)

I'm still walking around in a daze after the rescue at Enies Lobby.

This episode was pure enjoyment. Zoro is so funny with his lack of sense of direction. Luffy eating while sleeping XD. Franky is so cool building them a new ship with the money they were going to use to buy a new ship anyway. Nami was so fcking adorable when she realized her orange trees were still around. Awesome episode!

Zoro's sense of direction seriously just made the episode. Yelling at the island for being "messed up" and playing tricks on him... I lol'd hard every time it showed him running to the VERY same coast.

Do to spoilers i already know what the dream ship looks like because of future openings. How ever im still looking forward to its completion. I really love Franky. i just love how all the characters in one piece have there own unique laughs, its just hilarious. How he always says "OWE" Man i just love that.

And at last Luffy's grandpa is revealed to be vice admiral Garp. This would of really caught me off guard, had i not already known. oh well.

Yeah, it sucks. But, that's the risk of a long running series, you're going to run across all kinds of spoilers if you aren't careful.

oh my god, i'm overflowing with love for this series.

so right about the start of water 7 is when i felt like everything hit its stride. or maybe it's been an accumulation from each arc. seriously, when i finished the arlong arc, i thought nami's past was so poignant and couldn't wait to see what the crew would get up to. then there was the arabasta arc which broke me with its ending and i felt like nothing could ever be more epic. then there was jaya town which suddenly introduced this whole new word of one piece to me with the three powers. each time i felt like the series surpassed itself, and i'd reached the pinnacle. so right now i feel like that with water 7 - in which every character grew and established themselves, we got a glimpse of the poleglyph conspiracy, we saw world powers, and all the plot lines twisted together. so yeah i'm really really happy with one piece.

i'm the type to analyze plots as i go along and try to make sense of things, but i just want to sit back and enjoy the ride. see the seas the next fifty episodes will bring me.

this episode was funny and i needed the breather from being emotionally wrung out during the previous one. then the ending game and i thought shit was going to go down but NO IT'S LUFFY'S GRANDFATHERRR and again, love is overflowing.

Was the other guy Helmeppo? Wow, I think it's great they planned all this, it was AGES ago that we saw the episodes where Garp took them under his wing.

Would never have imagined Garp to have any relation to Luffy whatsoever! But the question is, is he just going to let Luffy get away?

Zoro needs serious work on his sense of direction, reminds me of a few people in my life that have the same problem. Nami brooding like an emo teenager was classic- then the pure ecstasy of seeing her trees was nice. Luffy showing his fourth gear- eating while sleeping and then the emergence of Garp the Grandpa :).

Exactly :) It was lovely! Chopper with his cute t-shirt, Luffy eating while sleeping (lol), glooomy Nami, Zoro getting lost again and again and again, Franky making them the ship (and becoming even cooler character) and of course the coolest grandpa ever!!! My theories about Luffy's grandpa were all wrong but I am pleased!!! He seems an amazing character!
p.s. I like how Paule is timid among women but they all adore him :)

Ah, I always love these sort of down time episodes OP has- like things don't just magically fix themselves because the Straw Hats beat up some guys. There are always consequences!

So Franky's gonna build their new ship, after all. I bet it'll look awesome!

And oh my god I thought I'd been spoiled on most things in One Piece...but I was not expecting Garp to be Luffy's frickin' granddad! The irony is real!

Oh and don't think I didn't see that pink hair...I know who that is!

THIS EPISODE WAS SO GREAT!!! IT'S HARD TO EVEN BEGIN!

Firstly, I want to mention the great subtle melancholy that Zoro showed. I hadn't noticed how perfect the art for him was in the Merry's farewell but it was so powerful.
You can tell the sadness in his face, the sadness that was reflected back when he first learned she was on her last legs via Kaku. But it's not just sadness. It's respect, and gratitude, and acceptance. You hardly ever see Zoro look so complex. He's a straight forward guy, but in this one moment you can tell just how much emotion he's feeling from the single look on his face. The Merry was a friend to him. And to further him saying goodbye to friends, he had to say goodbye to his broken sword this episode too, the one that the merchant held close to his heart and gave Zoro. He had a nice goodbye to it as well, a one to one where he sat alone with it and just.. looked. "This bites" is a good way to put it. I loved him in this episode.

Overall this was a super nice cool down episode after all the tears fell last episode. We got to see probably the most in depth follow through of the world the arc took place in One Piece yet, Paulie and the shipwrights fixing the backstreets, Iceberg planning to make the island float, the giants and Usopp working alongside them. Luffy sleeping and Zoro getting lost. Everyone even had cute casual outfits to reflect the peace.

Speaking of Usopp and the giants, I cannot believe they asked him if he wanted to go to Elbaf with them! That's a dream come true for Usopp. Those giants are all he aspires to. Plus, there's still awkwardness with Luffy being asleep and Usopp not being with the rest of the crew. He definitely doesn't feel like he can join back with them after fighting with his very captain and friend like that... However, I strongly think we've seen Usopp both learn his own value doing what only he can do protecting his friends, and we've seen him learn to accept the loss of Merry which was really the straw that broke the camels back for him. He's a far stronger individual than the one who had a break down at the start of this arc, and he's accepted reality. I think he's ready to move on and help the Straw Hats again. He knows Luffy did what was right by challenging Usopp's selfish views and he loves his nakama. The only issue is climbing over the awkward wall of asking if he can join back again!

Franky is on the run too. The government is after him, he was a leader, they never called the Frankies or Shipwrights by names they called them the Straw Hat's pirates. Assuming Franky does join I guess this be a good reason to, so that the navy doesn't come attacking his home looking for him. And, he shows off what a great dude he is again by paying back the Straw Hats stolen money by making the strongest ship ever for them. Beautiful. Of course Franky would want to pay them back for all they did and show his gratitude, because they are what he wishes he could have been for Tom, he respects them so hard.

The first thing I thought when I saw they were still at Water 7 was that they should not be there! They're all wanted. Staying at the last known location that you were at is so dumb, that's the first place they'll check. I understand that they needed money for a ship and didn't have their log pose stored so it makes sense, sailing out without those things on some throwaway ship one of their new friends gave them may be a death wish. This is a hard position to be in, especially with Luffy after murdering himself against Lucci. So, when Garp arrived I had no shock to show, it was due process.

Lastly, GARP IS LUFFY's GRANDPA! Ever since the Aokiji confrontation I wondered about who it would be. Aokiji mentioned that he knew Luffy's Grandpa and even back then that made Luffy sweat. I bet they have a rocky relationship, and it now makes sense that Aokiji would know Garp! Of course he'd know Luffy's grandpa, he's an admiral too!

P.S. I saw a pink and blonde guy behind him, and he's here for people to meet Luffy? All bets on that being Helmeppo and Coby, something planned from so long ago and I am ecstatic!!!!

Franky promising to build the Straw Hats a new ship out of the legendary wood he got from the black market so he can take the first step towards his life goal of being a shipwright as great as Tom seriously touched me. I've already grown to love the guy once he joined forces with the Straw Hats so this ended up putting the biggest smile on my face.

Seeing Robin so carefree and cheerful again in a normal context makes me feel so happy too. This is the fruits of their labor and it's very much worth it!

So that's Hoichael and Michael lmaooo

Monkey D. Garp has finally made his appearance and everyone finding out that his gramps is a Marine and a renowned Vice Admiral at that. I wonder if every single member of his family's world famous or infamous like them.
