| I went into this anime looking for some light entertainment, but after the disaster that was episode 10 the tone of the series completely changed to be something quite unique, almost nostalgic for itself. This show is extremely underrated which is a massive shame. |
| An ambiguously sad ending I suppose. What was that paperwork Tsuyama picked up at the school office at the end? At first I thought she had become a teacher there and was picking up materials for her new class, but she just came back to visit I guess? I can't say either episodes 11 or 12 were bad, but they did feel different. More somber, I guess. I did notice the backgrounds had changed. The earlier ones were vibrantly colored like a comic book and 11 and 12 had a more mellow realistic painting style to them. I wonder if this was a design choice, like to show the mood and characters were maturing, or if it was just a matter of new staff came along to replace the old and/or it was because of budget reasons? Amazing that they kept making these over the course of 13 years, especially since the manga ended in 1988. That's some damn dedication! Thank god for 'em though, this series was great.
