No, I'm just a fan of sport themed anime since they are purehearted wholesome goal oriented series that tell what sportsmanship / teamplay / essence of the sport game means for a simple person who never got into sports themselves due to various reasons. And Ao Ashi does a great job at showing this essence about football / soccer. + it has good story/characters to follow

I enjoy watching international volleyball matches, like the Nations League, World Championship, and Olympics, but I don't really follow other tournaments. As for soccer, however, I've been following it religiously for the past 14 years. I'm a Flamengo fan, so I watch every match that my team plays, whether it's a regional tournament, a national one, or the Club World Cup. I like to watch some European tournaments too when I have time.

I’m a big fan of World Cup soccer in particular, though I’m also a Schalke fan (RIP). Saw this anime was soccer, so I decided to give it a shot!

I'm American and I haven't really played soccer since my elementary school days, but watching this anime brings back memories of when I was trying to play soccer. I'm a casual soccer fan in a sense that the only time I watch soccer is during the World Cup.

Not a big fan of the series but I am a big fan of football (although I've definitely had my rough times with it being a Spurs fan lol, especially in my school days where I was the only one as I was surrounded by Chelsea/Man Utd/Arsenal fans everywhere back in the day). Was a defender in my high school days, although by no means was I an amazing one by any means necessary, and was a goalkeeper when I was in elementary/middle school. I used to play those kinds of roles for hockey as well whenever there were inter-school tournaments happening. Was definitely better in cricket and the team there than football, but I really enjoyed playing football back in the day. Watching it now actively is nice times too here with my friends.

I'm a football fan, amateur player and studying to be a coach, I like this anime but unfortunatelly another time they put the vision like a "special ability" and some old football animes cliches, I was happy with Giant Killing starting to do something more real, after this we have Days and last year the amazing Sayonara Watashi no Cramer ( the movie is perfect ), I hope that on the future we receive more football and other sports animes more realistic.

I used to play five-a-side in my teens, and I also competed in my city's high schools tournament.

That being said, I hate watching soccer. I find it utterly boring, with nothing happening during 90% of the match. I do watch some games from the World cup though because, since players' levels are a bit higher there, matches are a little more interesting.

I enjoy sports anime. Way more than the actual sports themselves. The inter-character relationships and focus on exciting parts of a match make it way more entertaining.

I live in a country where football is a very niche sport, where basketball and volleyball are popular. But my father was a football fan, so in my household we only watched football since I was a kid. I never really played football; basketball is the main sport here in almost every street you can find basketball courts. So, FIFA and FM games where my go to, and that's why I love my tactics and this makes Aoashi truly fun for me.

I'm a Borussia Dortmund fan even though I never even travelled to Germany πŸ˜… I really like their philosophy of focusing on YOUTH. And with Esperion having also the black and yellow colors, it fits perfectly with what I love. πŸ–€πŸ’›

Massive fan of the sport for as long as I can remember.

In general it's surprising how few shows get made on it even outside of anime because of its popularity, with the biggest I can think of right now being Ted Lasso bar Ao.

Hopefully S2 of the anime is in the works. It's deserved imo.

I've been dying for a good football anime since I'm such a huge football fan. I can definitely say that Ao Ashi with the detailed realistic football analysis does much better than any other football anime. Coach Fukuda reminds me of Arteta lmao

I have never really been much of a sports fan. It took years before I ever even gave any sports anime the time of day but once I did I fell down the rabbit hole for all sorts of sports anime- still not much of a fan for actual sports though. Granted I do think that also largely comes down too with anime you get to peek in on the drama and intrigue of the sports, personalities and the way all interact with one another but it’s not quite the same when watching a live sport, not for me anyways.

I think MOST people who watch Haikyuu never had (or still don't have ) any interest in volleyball. Just wondering if the same for Ao Ashi. I love the show so far and if it gains even half the popularity Haikyuu has that would be awesome.

Ps I'm a big footy fan and have been waiting years for a good football anime!

Well, I'm brazilian, and both football and volley are our most successful sports.

I'm pretty much a football nerd ever since I recall. I love watching Brazil's National team playing volley, although I don't follow the national league.

I don't feel comfortable talking about my pitiful football team though lol

Isn't the Philippines the country that has that crazy fusion between volleyball and football and players go crazy acrobatic kicking a little ball over a net?

I always find it so absurdly incredible to watch, surreal skills!

Haha yeah that's Sepak Takraw. It's just not played in the Philippines but most countries here in Southeast Asia. As a matter of fact, there's the Sepak Takraw League (STL) in Malaysia with promotion and relagation.

No.
More exactly: I hate football. And I hate even more watching any kind of sport on TV (or elsewhere, outside from some matches of certain games between normal people I know.)

Yes. I'm a massive football fan, and although I dont agree that la Liga is the best league in the world (Even the championship is better smh), I was very happy that Ao Ashi seems to be about as close to a great football anime that we've ever gotten. I love the way players like Ashito have been dramatised. He really reminds me of Thomas Muller; I reckon that the main inspiration for Ashito was Muller tbh. From episode ONE it's like, who else could it be?

Hello, I'm a football fan since 2014 and I support Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich (don't ask me how or why lol)

I didn't like the 90' football animes and I was hoping to enjoy AO Ashi since it's my first experience in this genre, but to be fair I was disappointed, because neither the animation nor the plot/characters were realistic enough for me to enjoy it, I think this series has some basic issues regarding the matches scenarios and even for the noisy MC to the point that o don't even know how someone who enjoys real football can also find pleasure watching this series

My last hope in trying to appreciate football animes will be Blue Lock, so I really hope it delivers especially when it has been promoted as a really good football series, but I'm afraid it turns out to be another generic sport shounen

Liverpool supporter. It's funny because Liverpool would make for a great anime. We experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Ashito reminded me of Trent Alexander Arnold (I know one is a left back and one is right back, but not that different). Not the best at defending, but can produce killer passes at will and has a wicked shot.
