I thought the episode was actually going to be the start of the Musashino match, but it's good to see that the team is trying to work through their inner conflicts to come together to turn their season around.

Ao Aishi gives me a real sense of empathy and nostalgia being a former soccer player who started out at local clubs as an outside midfielder/ attacking mid, then moved into the MLS academy program as an outside back, and was given a shot to go play internationally; so, in my perspective, I'm actually excited to see the next Aoi training episode for defending and seeing if they will teach him how to 1v1 defend or 2v1 defend. I would love to see a storyline where Aoi has gained confidence in his positional play for outside back, but then he goes head to head against a winger in a match that has insane skill moves that it takes 4 players to take the ball off of him. Like one of the great entertainers of football, such as Ronaldinho or a CR7 esque player. I believe that would really give him another push to keep learning more about the position and how important of a role that position plays as you get into higher level of competition in soccer,

Man... one episode wasted on stupid flashback.

you know right that this episode is clearing many stuffs and making us understand the situation and the problems? If you don't realize that then you're not fit to watch anime.

I still don't get why they're fighting but shouldn't Togashi brawl with Kuroda instead of Takeshima? I just hope there's no permanent damage from the brawling.

And Takeshima already bring girls to the match since elementary school? What a playboy! But who wouldn't want a potential pro soccer like him as a boyfriend? The more I think about it the more I think it's a good idea, so I should find a soccer boyfriend or two...

Look like it's gonna be Tachibana moment to shine until the end of this anime, he has to solve the team conflict, while at the same time face his past at Musashino, he'll almost be a protagonist, can Aoi steal this position back to him? LOL

Kuroda is being protected by the other promoted players because they believe that the way they were taught to play as children is the correct way to play. Togashi is challenging their style of play with his own, which, from a coach's perspective looking into the future, this conflict is a very good thing, if they over come it together. Reason I say this is because, if any of these players want to make it to the next level, they will have to encounter players just like Togashi, Kuroda and the promoted players. Players that are arrogant and stubborn to the way they play the game. Not saying that either of them are wrong, in fact, both are correct. That's the beauty of the game is that there are multiple ways to win games, whether its being calculated or being "balls to the walls;" Each player's style has to mesh with the other 11's in order to win the game. That's why you see the best team's in the world are not filled with players who came from the same background, they come from everywhere and they bring the best part's of each style together for a beautiful spectacle of team-play for 90 minutes. These players that are chosen are usually masters of all forms of styles of play, so if Aoi and they Esperion Youth Team want any chance to go pro, this obstacle is the their first stop at doing so.

Oh boy, a Togashi backstory. Seems like Kuroda and Takeshima were quite cocky when they were young. Poor Togashi felt really humiliated and inferior to them. I mean they were talking down to him at least in some instances.

Togashi straight-up beating up Takeshima after the match was wrong though. Words should always come before violence.

Looks like Tachibana's words got through to most of the team. But Togashi and Kuroda are still not in the right mood and mindset for the upcoming match.

Aoi's playing style will finally be decided in the Musashino match. I'm still sure he'll embrace the role of a defender since it's more logical and will help him go much further in the long run.

This episode was great because it really dove deep in understanding the ideology of the team and how they have thought and developed as players and individuals since they were in 6th grade. Very excited for the upcoming match!

I never thought about socce, and a person who is loving to play his position as his life depends on it, but this show depicts a lot about struggles faced by kid aoi and winning a game and becomiing an ace is very good.

An unusual thing about Ao Ashi that I've come to appreciate is how much some of the players on their team just cannot fucking stand each other. It's an interesting change of pace from the usual where even when a show will depict them butting heads sometimes, everyone is big lovely best friends in the end.

I especially liked that even though Togashi has been the friendly delinquent with a heart of gold character the whole show, and the youth team guys were introduced as arrogant assholes, the flashback feels pretty clear that Togashi has actually been a douchebag picking fights with them over petty shit forever.

Second half of the episode was much better than the first half. It felt like they were 35-year old dudes with life experience knowing their whole future from tip to toe. Anyway, the match should be in the next episode. Looking forward to it.

I agree with Togashi that each game the main focus should always winning that match whoever Kuroda also isn't wrong, you should do everything to make your dreams come true, the problem is that they were more focused on leaving a good impression on the higher ups than winning the games

Finally know why Togashi and the others don't get along. I honestly see both sides but I also think getting caught up in the future creates a lot of issues when faced with your current time. I understand Togashi for that reason. Honestly, I'm still not sure because the more I think about it the more I can see both sides.

Tachibana, my boy. The only beacon of light in this mess.

But man, Takeshima was so unlikeable when he was a kid. Togashi beating him up was lowkey satisfying, ngl.

Also Kuroda acting as if his family is gonna get slaughtered if he doesn't become pro was funny.

Chemistry. Not only do you need it to make 99.1% pure meth, but also to win soccer games. Team work makes the dream work as they say.

As they mentioned, Musashino has got great chemistry. They may not be as technically skilled as the Esperion players, but because they understand each other’s weaknesses they can cover and make up for it when needed.

The issue with Togashi and the Youth players isn’t so much that they are different, rather It is that they do not respect those differences and thus don’t even want to work together. I know Kuroda said not to trust Togashi but I’m beginning to think he’s the slimy one here. As someone who's personally very competitive I can understand the frustration of seeing your team mates hold back. But a fair number of rising stars have had their fires snuffed out by career ending injuries so I can see where Kuroda and company are coming from.

Nice to see Tachibana taking a leadership role…RIP to Aois picnic tho

Togashi, I like this kind of guy. Eat your bento when he sees the guy you made it for is with another girl, simple, unbothered guy, but FIRM beliefs. And he don’t gaf, it’s HIS beliefs & he will live by it. Ok but Togashi & Takeshima fight was so hot, shame it was so brief lolollll

Omg and Yuuma when he was young, his uwu face when they were fighting lmfao. So cute.

Togashi's mindset is thinking ahead of being pro. Everyone in is trying their best to be 'pro' but that only gets you so far. When you do become pro the only thing that should be on your mind 24/7 is winning, that's all: that matters. Togashi's Ideology is the right way to improve as a player, being pro is good but losing is not.

This is an amazing sports anime masterpiece, which opened up and increased my knowledge, especially in terms of football, now I as an observer found Ashito in Trent Alexander Arnold (an English footballer) playing for the Liverpool club, before I didn't really mind it, but after seeing this anime I feel that my view of football is the same as the character "Anri" in this anime which is oriented towards strengthening the midfield, and now I know how strong the influence of a wing defender who can play at different levels is. Currently, even according to what is in this anime, Liverpool and Trent Alexander Arnold show their fangs with the playing style shown in this anime, so in my opinion "this is a very amazing anime, which can change your view of football, 10/10 "I hope to deliver the next season as soon as possible. Thank You.

oh man that flashback was loooong wasn't it. Anyway, with Aoi, Fukuda pretty much said that being a defender would secure his going pro so I say go with that even though it's boring. Who cares really what position you play? When the situation calls for it he can always score a goal can't he? It's not like he's become a goalkeeper lol
