Why do they edit animes and mangas?
| What do you think? I think they want to reduce the age limit. By doing so, the targeted public increases, and so (they think) their sales increase as well. It could be not to shock the public, but seeing the age limit of certain American movies and TV programs.... it could not be this reason, right? |

Hentais and such - but for these series, there is no edits that can make them watchable on TV. But hiding nipples and and remove blood??? Come on, I see much worse things on TV before 22:00 and little brats are not on bed yet. Take the club picture as an example: does that shock anyone? Against the law? In Russia, do you not see worse material on TV? And let's suppose that's not appropriate to air on TV. Then just don't air it, don't you agree? And how about mangas? They do that to mangas all the time! |

| well, i didnt say i like what they are doing :) but reason is obvious. if the channel targets "PG-13" auditory there is no way they can air some anime with boobs and shiny asses in it :))) so they have to "make" it pg-13... but the bad thing is - anime rippers usually use tv versions to make translations, not the DVD ones, coz in this case they would have to wait several monts before dvd version comes out. |

Ok, suppose you want to have a PG-13 anime to air. So why not choose compatible animes that do not need censure? How about airing One Piece or Pokemon? Why choosing Higurashi or Elfen Lied, and then edit everything out? Why air an anime with "panty shots" and edit them out? I just don't get it, sorry. And then there is the age problem: in Japan an anime might be ok for 13 years old, but in the occident - oh my god, is that a panty shot??? label it a +18 anime or edit everything. Damn them! |

But yep, I also do not care much about hentai censoring 'cause hentai has little artistic value, and if you want to find uncensored sexual stuff (real or virtual), it's really easy! |

| To decrease age limit of course. In (if I remember correctly) Germany, on some TV channels, the air cut porn movies during the day. And at nigt, after the proper warnings, they air the full movie. Of course, this has nothing to do with anime. But I suppose, there is a similar reason. This doesn't mean, I'm on the side of censoring movies, shows or anime. They could just air different things, if they don't want to air stuff the censor. |

Well, in Portugal it is not allowed to air porn at anytime unless it's in a paid cable channel (and I think those channels do it 24h/7). But I can agree with that :) |
