| For me, there isn't too much controversy. WataMote is and isn't a good depiction of social anxiety depending on who you ask. It has been called sadistic by some. Monogatari is probably the most controversial. Tons of fanservice for one, and some think it's pseudo deep. Madoka Magica might also be considered to be pseudo deep too. Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, Yokohama Shopping Trip, and Non Non Biyori don't have any controversy to my knowledge. |

| Mildly controversial. Lotgh is usually highly regarded by the ones who have seen it but in the eyes of some people its fans are annoying fun haters which is an unfortunate reputation. Ghost in the Shell has a large percentage of fans who prefer Stand Alone Coplex to the 95 film but I still don't view it as a controversial choice. Turn A Gundam is relatively unknown among non gundam fans and some gundam fans view it as kind of an outlier in the franchise. Still fans of Tomino's work hold it in high regard which is why I don't consider it a controversial choice. |

| Not at all. Cardcaptor Sakura and Urusei Yatsura are literal classics. It’s rare for me to see any of these shows be talked about in a negative light. Daa! Daa! Daa! and Yumeiro Patissiere aren’t well known enough to spark any controversy between them (not that they would, anyways) The idea of Hamtaro being controversial is like the most hilarious shit to me, if I’m being honest lol. |

| Kuzu no Honkai is quite controversial for various reasons. Given the score progression, most people disliked the ending. I wouldn't say that Nana and Kanashimi no Belladonna are controversial, but they also are too sexually explicit for the average conservative anime watcher. |

| Monogatari is the most controversial thing in my favorites as well. I understand why it's controversial and don't completely disagree with it's critics but the good part of that show is so good that I can't help but love it anyway. |

Yugioh i guess is controversial since it's a little cheesy and goofy. I also have a hentai i really enjoyed. That about as controversial as it gets with me. |

| I think the only controversial one of my favorites is Mushoku Tensei due to the pedophilia subtext. Other than that, I can't think of or am not aware of any of my other favorites being controversial. Both To Your Eternity, Baka to Test, and Saiki Kusuo are not anime that I would think of as having something to be controversial. |

There was a long period of time between being a kid and watching what i thought were cartoons and being older and getting back into anime, and i started back with Fairy Tail for my deep dive into the industry. It's been non-stop ever since. |

| - Mushoku Tensei (I don't think I have to explain this one) Others didn't have much controversies, some minor stuff across the community - Megami-ryou no Ryoubo-kun with the MC being 12-13 years old with a harem 18+ years old girls, so you know the drill. - Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road was apparently called misandric and across the whole time it was airing people complained they killed a guy in the first 10 minutes. Not something big, but I had to heard it for 3 months and even if you currently mention it you can still see someone that was bothered by it. |

| Nagatoro-san and Made in Abyss have sparked some controversy. I did once find a list that supposedly contained anti feminist anime which included two of my favorites, Fate/Zero and Hakuouki (the latter is literally aimed at women btw). As a feminist myself I certainly don't share the viewpoint of whoever made the list but yeah, that was pretty funny to see. |
