I really like this anime and I'm currently really holding my self to not start reading the manga because:
1. I think the anime is a really solid sports manga adaptation
2. I really like the element of surprise that the story has and that the anime delivers it greatly
3. I'm afraid that the manga is full of technical explanation and would be hard to read
But, nonetheless I know that it already has a lot of chapters in its story and I really want to skip the waiting part from the anime.

So what you guys think? Should I just be patient or not?

well sports manga are always a different experience
it will have more details than usual manga but not as much as you think it is a manga afterall not a novel pictures speak themselves
if you have read any before you shouldn't have any problems
but it is always worth a try
a great manga imo

yeah I also recommend you to start reading manga after the anime is finished.......
on 9anime it has views more than 4,000,000 views but on mal it has only 100k+ users... after seeing that I learnt that never judge an anime by how many mal users are watching this.....😤

Different people different taste. I personally enjoyed the technical stuff explain in the manga since I'm an avid football fan. I learn a lot about football by reading Ao Ashi, more than watching football matches itself. For me the strength of Ao Ashi is not the twist, but the detailed explanation of characters action on the pitch.
This one page in ch. 73 is not adapted in the anime:

The anime only mention that Ashito doing training alone for an hour, but didn't explain explicitly what kind of training it is. It'd be nice if the anime explains this drill so we get an idea that the team actually practice it, not just Ashito, but Ashito doing it to an extreme level.

I couldn't wait for the anime so I started reading manga after ep 12, and I ended up catching up with the manga after 3 days, it's that good. Once you start it I don't think you can stop if you liked the anime. But should you read the manga? Well if you're an impatient person like me then yes, else you can start manga after finishing this season, because the anime is a great adoptation and the pacing is really good. I wouldn't recommend waiting for the next season though.

The adaptation is great. You can start after the 24 episodes. My only complaint is that they do not show the ball trajectory animation

I might be bias since football is my favorite sport (which means that I love all the technical explanation & stuffs), but the manga is great. Nice character development and art as well.

it is licensed in English but only through the Shogakukan Asia imprint, which is distributed in southeast asian countries. It's based in Singapore i think.

No official US / UK release yet.

The manga is more technical than the anime, but it's not to the point that makes it a bad read. In fact, I think the manga is better than the anime. If you like the anime, you should read the manga as well.

The problem is... if you try to read the fan translated manga, 95% of the time it was done by a good enough translation group, while some chapters were translated by some noobs instead. You'll notice the differences. Even people with bad English would notice those poorly translated chapters.

Even the chapters that were translated by the "good" fan translation group, in earlier chapters they seemed to not be able to make a decision on how to romanize character names, so you'll get to read "Nakamura Taira" in one panel, and then "Taira Nakamura" in another panel. Sometimes people will have different naming order in the same chapter.
