I must not be the only one who love Akutsu right? Right??? I mean besides from his sexiness (yeah I can't stop talking about this), what he said at the end is somewhat true, youth teams aren't as strong mentally as high school teams, in Japan all environment paved to school competition, you can randomly pick any sports anime and I'll bet more than 95% it's a competition between school, not club. All top tournament like Interhigh and Koshien only recognize schools as participants, not club.

With that said, I love how everyone is aware of Ashito being forced to play a position he doesn't want to. His teammate understand the change and give him a chance and they're very forgiving when Ashito make mistake, while the opponent, specifically Akutsu, take advantage of it. Ashito's position change is somehow a "hot topic" in the club, where everyone can't stop talkinh about it.

The second part is quite interesting, you can see a gender barrier where woman is being perceived at not being good at analysing soccer, but Anri destroy the barrier immediately with her thoughtful analysis. Let me say one thing, there is no right or wrong if manager see players as chess pieces or not, so I don't think Anri is completely wrong, but she did underestimate defender position for sure, especially when Ashito is a defender.

Takeshima, or as I'd like to call him a red hair guy, bring his girlfriend to the practice match, my statement is still the same, I don't want to see any players have girlfriend, so I can understand Ohtomo, even if it's for a completely different reason than him LOL. But this is the first "official" girlfriend from any player. While Yuma and Anri are already act like couple, they're probably too shy to admit it (and might end up with a "Love is War" situation) so they stuck at being a "childhood friend" Ashito and Hana are still developing but as of now they're in a player-manager relationship. I mean I don't blame players from seeking a girlfriend because it might be a sole reason why they're invest in soccer, to get rich and get a crazy hot wife, so while they're still youth team let me appreciate their singleness before they go pro.

Akutsu is very harsh to Aoi. Although it is true he said at the end of the match.

Anime vs. Manga. So far Ao Ashi has been a great adaption. It’s stayed, for the most part, true to the manga and is doing a great job at displaying emotions and characterization moments. Besides the mc, Akutsu is definitely my favorite character (manga-wise) and can’t wait to see how the anime will handle him. Give him time and Ashito will continue to rise to the top and become the most dominant attacking defender ever.

You’re watching a child go through depression because a grown man capped to his face. What would that develop besides trust issues?

It's Anime, to make the mc get development they always have to make the mc suffer. Besides if we talk about it in real life, majority of people will be just fine just like aoi in the end, it will even become their motivation to keep up, i mean the coach plan can make the person sad, but to become depressed and has trust issue is just for the type of people who have sensitive personality (i didn't mean to insulting, people have different sensitivity for this kind of thing). Especially since nowadays if you like football you will surely familiar with a thing called change position for football players.

Another great episode. Football part in the beginning and Aoi struggling and experiencing his new position was very good but my favorite part was the talk between Anri, Yuma and Togashi at the end. Anri's passion for football is really showing, it's pleasant to watch how much she cares and nerds for the sport. I wonder if they predicted Fukuda's intentions accurately. They also talk about Xavi experiment but don't mention him by name. Really interesting talk. Btw. Takeshima's girlfriend is a cutie.

Also I like Yuuma-kun so much! Enoki-san do great job here! He is the ideal voice for Yuuma!

his upbringing and the surroundings he was raised in is responsible for how he acts and treats everybody around him. has such a big defensive wall up that it’s much easier to push people away and step over them then let them in and care about him. i’m sure the anime will do a stunning job at handling his character, but just give Akutsu a chance to redeem himself. because he comes through for our boy Ashito 💪

Hmm, a play-making fullback? The closest people we have to that in real life are probably Joao Cancelo and Trent Alexander Arnold. Aoi still needs to work on his shuffling and his all-around game though. I don't like seeing the other characters getting left out so I'm hoping that we get some kind of character development for Togashi, Ohtomo, etc.

what they said at the end of the episode makes me think of Trent Alexander Arnold, who plays for Liverpool fc. He is the play maker for the team even at rb and is one of the best play makers in the world right now.
So seing ashito's journey to becoming like that is gonna be exciting.

FINALLY non manga reader who understand and associate it with real life footballer..
Yeah I agree Aoi is quite similar to TAA, but rather than becoming an attacking minded fullback, Fukuda is planning to make Aoi a complete fullback both in attack and defense. There is none so far irl. Both TAA and Cancelo are average in defense (Cancelo is a little bit better than TAA tho). But they are the closest one we get in terms of playmaking.

Aoi getting thrown into the deep end having to play on th defensive side. The complete opposite of where his natural motivations lie in the game. Aoi almost gets like kinda bored sitting all the way in the back. Forced to keep looking to his teammates to see what he can do or not do. The amount of freedom Aoi has just got decreased by a lot. He can't push up to attack if one of the other guys back on defense has already done that because it would leave them exposed it the other to team got past them. Its extremely frustrating to see Aoi stuck in this position he actively doesn't like because the coach thinks its better for him. Without giving Aoi proper time to digest the decision or even practice to get the hang of it. Aoi is made to learn on the fly which isn't very smart way of getting players to learn. Aoi was able to thankfully make a play since he has such great field vision and knew that corner kick was going to the far side. He has natural soccer instincts but I'm agreeing with Anri that Aoi is better suited for the midfielder position not all the way back on defense.

He basically wants Aoi to become an offensive defender "playmaker". It really fits Aoi's playstyle and his abilities, shown in the last few minutes of the episode where he predicted the movement of the ball and position of the player. Well, we still don't fully know why he's full-back while some other positions might be better in this case. "Defenders" is known to be boring for a lot of people while it's actually as important as other roles or on the same level. Fukada is probably just planting the seeds for now and waits for Aoi to grow so he can do more with him. Well, I can't wait for Aoi to become a complete playmaker and dominate the game. But, it probably won't happen in this season. It's time to read the manga sooner or later. Also, Akatsu was pretty rude this episode once again. I still don't know his motive but it will probably be explained.

DaMn this episode was great. Man, I loved the conversation at the end, Togashi and Yuma with Anri.
By the way, playmaker eh, quite the chills I felt down my spine at the end there.
It is indeed possible to be a playmaker as a defender. Though it's quite rare to see one. But welp, our boy Ashito here has been doing the unpredictable. So I wouldn't be surprised if he did stay as a defender. (Would like him to become an attacking mid player tho, 'coz that would be hella more I.N.T.E.R.E.S.T.I.N.G

There are assholes like that IRL too. Used to play in a club similiar to that and most of them thought they were cream of the crop and nobody made it anywhere.

I would be shocked if he changed at any point. These players would rather stop playing football than admit they were wrong or have any insight on their behavior

Damn Akutsu can be pretty rude, I hope that he'll change attitude.

Ashito is obviously confused about playing in defense lol

There are assholes like that IRL too. Used to play in a club similiar to that and most of them thought they were cream of the crop and nobody made it anywhere.

I would be shocked if he changed at any point. These players would rather stop playing football than admit they were wrong or have any insight on their behavior

Oof, sorry to hear it. I hope that you still enjoy playing and watching soccer anyway despite this experience!
