Is it just me or do I feel like season 1 of The Promised Neverland feels like an ending to the entire series. Because the whole plot of the series is about the cat and mouse game so they can escape the orphanage and at the end of the season the story accomplishes the goal it set out to do. Also, I really like the open-ending of season 1 because it fits with the title of the series in my opinion.

Because it did.
Manga ended when kids escaped and 2nd season never happened.

Season 1 isn't the best place to leave off at all considering that you don't know what dangers are beyond the wall and what kind of things they would run into. Season 2 absolutely butchers the manga and the manga does things way better although some parts did lack I still loved it overall.
As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

Manga readers have a legitimate gripe with Season 2 because, at least according to my understanding, Season 2 omitted the best manga arc and changed the ending.

As an anime-only fan, I was disappointed in Season 2 because Season 1 was the ultimate "prison break" anime. Once the kids escaped, I didn't really feel there was any story left to be told.

I still watched Season 2 because I loved Season 1 so much, but even if it had adapted the manga perfectly, it probably couldn't have lived up to my expectations.

Why are we discussing a season that doesn’t exist?

I mean it kinda did but it also left a cliffhanger. The demon world wouldn’t have been safe so they have to survive. You should read the manga the arcs in it are insane

I hope you read the manga, it is really good. Yeah, the open ending in season 1 still based in the manga. But, tbh season 2 is trash adaption. They messely compact it. Just read the manga dude, trust me it work.

Because that's what it did. The goal of the kids was to escape the farm and that's what they did. They already solved the conflict.

At least the Code Geass film happens in a different universe (given that Shirley is alive in the movie) which means that it does not actually affect the main story.

Wish I could say the same about the second season of TPN.

Nothing exists after that.

Goldy Pond was really the only thing that was just as good as the content from the first season and that also happened to be the only thing season 2 decided to skip for some fucking reason.

It seems like not many like the second season, but in all honesty, I loved it. The first season was waaayyy too repetitive, I ended up skipping a bunch of episodes and watched the last 2 and I still know the whole story. The second season tho, maybe I'm just a sucker for those anime like Somali but it's so refreshing to watch.
So yeah, I absolutely hated that the first season ended with this cliffhanger. Imo they should have made a 17-20 episodes anime out of both season where season 1 is shortened to 6 episodes and season 2 is the rest.
But this is all very subjective and it looks like I'm the only one who dislikes s1 anyway lul

It's a lot like the basement reveal in attack on titan. It feels very conclusive, as it achieves what the characters' main goal was up until that point, but in another regard, it only marks the beginning, as once the characters reach their original goal, they have newfound knowledge of the world around them, so the plot shifts to focus on how they react to this.

Season 1 of tpn focuses on the their goal to escape gracefield and the story after that focuses on them discovering the bigger picture of how and why they were in that situation in the first place. However, given the quality of season 2, I'd say it's more satisfying to pretend that season 1 exists by itself, even if that means leaving the bigger mysteries of tpn unsolved.

I like the Manga, even the later arcs. But the first one is far superior. This anime would have been a 10/10 for me, if the first arc was a bit deeper and had a real end for the story. The actual ending was pretty weird tbh

it kinda felt like the creators went too far with the story into a completely different world.Yes,still kind of the same idea but the main reason why the anime attracted so many people in the first place, was lost. Its one of those plots that dont need a further continuation, but, yeah, this mistake of somebody's imagination now is called the second season.

Season 2 is a complete travesty rushing everything, if you wanna see more, read the manga where the story left off

Season 2 of TPN was like the final season of Game of Thrones. Totally rushed and no space for character development.

I think it would've been better if only the first season existed. It had a good ending and there was no need for the second one.

Agreed. Also code geass is fantastic but the films are sooo awful and unnecessary. So if you reading this and haven't seen it go watch it the season 2 finale is so good that I don't consider the movies canon.
