It's been 9 million years. (I did not finish reading source, so I have no idea what happened after season 1...)

Anyways... the start of this episode was kinda sad really... after Maou left... apparently the rest of Demons got slaughtered by the Humans...

Meanwhile... Maou is in the Earth world still working at McDonalds... and learning daily life stuff...

I wonder if this is a foretelling of what's to come when Maou finally go back to the Fantasy world and reclaim his castle and rescue the rest of the Demons before they're all wiped out.

Also... for being the king of Demons and Monsters... Maou is afraid of a little bug... LOL

And we got a little girl... is she the same one we saw when she was an adult in Maou's castle? hmm... Reincarnate? Or actually Maou and Yusha's child... LOL

I've eagerly awaited this, ever since I heard it was greenlit, I was pretty hyped for the return, just did my rewatch of season 1 and I'm partway through the first episode now, but somehow.... while most characters still look really close to how they looked in season 1, the new studio somehow managed to make Maou Sadao look like a freaking kid (and sound like one too). Legitimately my only complaint about design choices...

didn't lose quality or it actually feel almost like S1, man I remember when I finished this show I was so frustrated that S2 was not coming but last year finally the bell rang.

This art & animation is works if used in 1st season, but sadly this is 2nd season, kinda off when u compare it with the 1st season..

..anyways, 1st episode, Alas Ramus makes her first appearances in the anime (didn't expect that she can talk tho.. nice VA there), lets see what happen next..

*sigh* i hope this uncomfortable feeling washed away...

This season seems pretty lazy with the design & animation, the pacing is out of control and the characters are way more hammy than in season 1.

A lot of what made TDIAP so good was it’s ability to get into the drama of Entei Isla & Modern Japan while brilliantly bending that seriousness into comedy. The gaps in normative rationale between in Entei Isla & Modern Japan, the massiveness of Sadao’s goal paired up with his part timer status and the struggles of getting by all clashing together naturally made for a good show.

I don’t want to speak too soon but the hamminess, the missing sharp smooth aesthetic seems pretty infantilizing. Which is a massive bummer for me as season 1 made it into my top 3 favorites.

That said: I’m really looking forward to the drama, romance & comedy the added element of the child could bring.

Just had the time to watch episode 1 and I've to say I really enjoyed it, but the new design is something to get used to. Honestly speaking, the new design isn't bad, it's just not something a lot of people used to (and prefer) including me. But all in all, the comedy is still funny.

Some changes in the flashback. Now, Maou had seen Emillia's face back in Ente Isla.

I didn't watch season 1 when it was airing, but this series is one of my favorites so I'm really excited for season 2. Had the season 2 announcement come a bit later, I would've spoiled myself by going into the wiki.

I haven't ever posted on MAL's forums but this was too much for me. I was super excited when I saw S2 would finally happen after 9 years but the sudden art change to generic unauthentic modern ecchi vibes, ok tier animation and designs (shadows and lighting are terrible so it lacks visual depth) for an extremely awaited show just destroyed my hype. Not saying it's utterly bad but it's just a complete change from S1, characters feels dull and flat, everyone has a round chibi comedy face, they always have that UwU eyebrow style. It's like it regressed from S1 to S2.

Been a while since I watched S1 and it didn't really leave a big impression on me so I had to read a summary for the entirety of S1 lol, but here we are. Decent first episode. Hopefully I will enjoy this season a bit more than the first.

Well, it's back... after 9 years! After being just a 13 episode anime for 9 years, it finally has a 14th episode. Seriously, imagine having to wait 9 years just for the second season of a show. No OVAs. No Specials. Absolutely nothing between July 2013 and June 2022.

Anyway, Hataraku Maou-sama Season 1 was the first anime I ever binged-watched (finished it in 2 days) back in 2015. And I'm someone who never binge-watches shows; I only just wanted to try binge-watching an anime for once and I chose Hataraku Maou-sama S1. It's been 7 years since I first watched it, but 7 years is still a lot, so I just finished my rewatch before starting the second season, because there's no way in hell I was going into Season 2 without watching Season 1 again, as I'm not going to remember everything from 7 years ago.

Nice to see Suzuno again. She's my fav character in this and is pretty much the only reason to watch this since I didn't enjoy S1 that much after watching it again. Had her as my avatar on MAL years ago too. Not happy to see that Chiho-bitch again, though. After rewatching S1, she is one of my least favourite characters in anime.

So this little girl just comes out of this huge apple? Reminds me of Celine from To Love-Ru, but hopefully she's nothing like Celine, who didn't add anything to the show and is pretty much one of the worst and unnecessary characters in TLR. Also, everyone looks a bit different. Different studio and different artstyle. Shame White Fox couldn't return to do the second season.

This better become a complete adaptation one day. Because why would they bring it back all these years later for just 1 more season and make no more seasons afterwards? Of course, how well the blu-rays sell will be a deciding factor on whether or not it gets a third season.

Anyway, it's back and it feels so nostalgic to me. Watching new content being animated. And it's a miracle it even got a second season after all these years, with such a huge gap between seasons, and especially since the source material is finished now (almost 2 years ago). The first season aired in the same season as the first season of Attack on Titan ffs. Still waiting for that second season of D-Frag and Btooom. If Hataraku Maou-sama can get a second season after 9 years, then surely those 2 shows could get a second season someday too.

The pacing was really something. They were trying to cram as much as possible into that opening it seems. [obligatory comment on the shitty art style & lazy animation]. Is it just me or is season 2 already a lot more hammy than season 1?

The moment the baby was introduced made me smile though.

this is great! the sequel that we really like! some people say that the new animation and artstyle is off putting but for me its really not an issue, and for the 1 episode, it didnt feel like it changed that much. if anything, i say its an improvement.

I watched the first season years ago and initially I hadn't any idea what was going on, I needed to get accustomed to it. At the end of this episode, I was surprised they stayed a father and mother with that chick who was about to kill him in the devil's realm. I wonder if he'll ever go back to his homeland, especially when he started to like the human world. Furthermore, his best servant (sry, I'm bad at memorizing names) wants to go to work and leaves that nerdy gamer alone with household duties which I think that's not a good idea. I was feeling weird watching it subbed cuz I watched the first season with dub.

I totally agree. The episode was ok but it’s a whole other vibe than the first season. Feels like I’m watching a different show and I’m not sure I’m a fan of it.

Well... I'm just happy that we even got a second season. Of course, it's not White Fox but it's still good. Enjoyed the first episode and those cockroaches. LMAO. Also, Papa... Mama and Alas Ramus. Cute Family.

I'm a little torn on the first episode. It feels like half a episode of content stretched to a full one. Yet I can't say it bothered me. So good. Regardless I'm just happy this got a long over duo 2nd season.

Oh boy. I just started watching the 2nd Season. I loved the first one, it was funny and the characters were really well done. The 2nd Season feels like the 2nd Marvel Movie, where all the complicated relationship things happen. And a child like it seems. Wonder how it's gonna play out.

Rewatch s1 right before this as a refresher. Voices sounded the same but a bit off. It's been for them all while so it's fine, I got used to it fairly quickly. The new art style is def gonna take some getting used. They all look more cutesy? They are softer and less detailed? Also no sure but also looking a lil stumpy and wider on some of the characters
