Piracy and fandubs are the best thing that can happen to anime.

Yes, this causes studios to lose income but do you know what else it causes this ?

Trusts in platforms that adulterate anime to follow the tastes of a certain audience that doesn't even watch anime.

PS. Yes i hate platforms like crunchyroll because i can't watch animes like digimon adventure because is unavalible in LATAM.

Some unpopular anime opinions of mine are:

I hate characters that are too strong without a proper training arc just because they have a certain power that makes them strong.

I like male MCs who are wimps, the kind the many people find annoying.

I dislike ecchi scenes in non ecchi anime.

The main couple in a romance anime should not get together too quick, it should be rewarding when they finally do.

1) Best way to watch an anime is only when it's fully completed.
2) I am disagree with a common opinion that MC from a harem anime should be more bold and handsy because such demeanor will always destroy the fragile structure of relations between girls themselves, and between girls and MC. It would lead to dramatic ending of unique atmosphere or would make it painfully unrealistic.
3) Most of full-length anime are much worse in terms of pacing and story than typical anime series, it's like a 25-minute episode stretched to 1.5-2 hours just for cinemas.

I've got a couple:

- The original Fullmetal Alchemist is arguably just as good as Brotherhood for the most part, and I'd even argue it had the stronger first half. Also had a better soundtrack, though that's just an objective fact.

- Kimi no na Wa was a good film, but not a great one. It was breezy enough to entertain and sincere enough to be heartwarming but there's really nothing exceptional about it beyond the animation. It's a sweet romcom that happens to look very pretty and far from the masterpiece the community touts it as.

- Midori: Shoujo Tsubaki only has a bad reputation in the anime community and online in general because people don't know how to engage with deliberately transgressive art. It's nasty and gross, but that's the point.

- I got bored with Violet Evergarden after only a couple of episodes. It looks spectacular but I just couldn't bring myself to give a shit about her or any of the other characters for that matter. It's dull and schmaltzy as far as I'm concerned, but I might give it another try sometime since it has been a while.

- Attack on Titan only became a truly great show from Season 2 onwards. Season 1 was mostly just good with flashes of greatness peppered throughout. Oh, and Season 4 Part 1 was the best part.

- Elfen Lied's dumb and self-important, but way too fascinating to be written off. It's pretty fun when you don't have a Redditor with a patchy beard in your ear telling you it's the worst piece of shit ever made.

- The Wind Rises is top tier Ghibli.
Take care of yourself

My unpopular opinions as a 33yo self-proclaimed intellectual:
- most shounens are dogshit made for the lowest common denominator (aka impressionable teenagers and grown adults who never intellectually mature past the age of a teenager)
- Cowboy Bebop is incredibly boring and people are rating it high only because "it's le mature anime and others will think I'm dumb if I rate it low"
- most scenes in Lain make little to no sense and serve only as fuel for people with vivid imaginations who love to inject their own headcanon into the story (and those people fail to realize they're doing it)
- 2010s/2020s anime are more artistically pleasing than older anime, with few exceptions
- men who dislike perverted scenes in anime have low testosterone

Unpopular opinion threads are bad, it is just an excuse for people to let fly their contrarian opinions.

Sounds to me like you're trying to conflate all unpopular opinions with contrarian takes, in order to have an excuse to dismiss them, which is incredibly dishonest.
@BigBoyAdvance What is it that I should be so adamant about that I need to actively dump on the things people enjoy?
Do I need to have any reason to bad mouth whatever anime because I didn't like it but if you insist here are some.

- It is reasonable for people to be turned off by pervy scenes in anime. Not everyone is coming for stimulation in that way.
-In defense of perviness, it can be done in a way that is not detrimental to plot of a series. I.E. beach episodes are often a reasonable fun distraction.
- People dumping on Angel's Egg are people who cannot take in an anime as a purely visual artistic experience. Something I quite like and why I can enjoy so called "bad anime" like MD Geist.
- Most anime are not bad. It is a special exception when something is truly abyssmal in quality.
-Studio Deen anime didn't really look all that bad aside from Samurai Deeper Kyo. Fate and Higurashi are fine visually.
-Most of the biggest anime of the 2010s just don't appeal to me.
-We made the jump to digital animation too quick and a lot of early 2000s anime look worse than 90s anime due to the skills built up from decades of cel animation.
-Despite the issues with the Blazblue anime I would like a Guilty Gear anime, the biggest issue with Blazblue was telling the first game's story in 2 episodes.
-AoT's first season was not interesting enough to get me to watch more.
-Anime culture war is overall detrimental to the fanbase and medium as a whole.
-Anime dubs are often good, especially the ones from the late 90s and 2000s.
-Hellsing (TV) is actually pretty solid.

AOT ending ain't even that bad. As far as endings go, it's alright. Shounentards who have never read a book in their lives don't know this.
@epidemia78

I agree with AOT having a good ending but... is this opinion really unpopular. lol

I'm a lot fonder of the original Hunter x Hunter adaptation compared to its 2011 remake. The latter just feels so watered down to me.

Seiren isn't as bad as some people claim, sure it's not on Amagami SS level but it certainly still a decent romance for twelve episode with enough progression in the arcs for the girls (ok maybe bar the first one).

I have a whole page on this on my profile lmao

I think dororo, hormiya, and golden time are pretty overrated. I also think fairy tail is not that bad and people hate on it too much. I also think clannad after story is good but not the masterpiece people deem it to be.

My Dress Up Darling is utterly trash, and its popularity would be confounding if it wasnt just a reinforcement of the satisfaction with low grade content that precedes all forms of media and storytelling

It is one of the worst things I have ever seen, and I can only hope I don't have the second season of the show inflicted on me

some of my unpopular opinions:

Saint seiya is a true godfather of the battle shounen genre and its tragic to me that not many people in english speaking countries know of it despite being so famous nearly everywhere else from what I seen and heard its literally treated like a religion in brazil lol. one true hot take of mine is I think its better than DBZ and DBZ actually took some inspo from saint seiya.

anime does not have to be deep, dark or complex to be good, enjoyment is what I care about the fans who hate certain genres like battle shounen for being "childish" come across as pretentious to me

bishounen characters are great and I tend to like them best I wish they had as much of them as they do bishoujo, girls and gays deserve just as much eye candy as the straight men do

I prefer the character designs of older anime more 80s to 2000s, I can like some modern ones but alot of them are more bland to me and I hate it when anime characters look bland to me anime should feel like a fantasy escape from real life so why have them look bland and plain ?

Ghost in the Shell is a steaming pile of misogyny posing as pseudo-science, proof that if you use big words you can bullshit anyone into believing you're smart. When you add boobs its easier to pretend like its great anime.

I fell asleep during Attack on Titan S2, and possibly feel bad enough about it to actually watch it... but hell will freeze over before I look any of the Ghost in the Shell sequels.

I dunno if this is the worst take, but people felt triggered enough to have argued with me online 😂

@Fyrebirdi You seem to be much more triggered than the imaginary people you fight against.
I'd really like to know what about Ghost in the Shell is "misogynist" or "pseudo-science" because I've never heard anyone in the world saying that about GitS.
Judging from your other posts, you really like making things like that up, getting triggered and throwing around buzzwords like "misogynist" or "homophobic" etc. whenever a show or anything doesn't go your way,

- Slice of life shows are generally boring, overrated and only made for either voyeurists who like to watch kids playing instruments or ever weirder people who like to watch grass grow.
- 70s/80s anime is superior towards 2000s anime and 2000s anime is far superior towards anything post 2015. Genrally speaking, anime is getting worse year by year.
- Miyazaki is not only a bitchy smug elitist and the worst dad of the century but the most overrated geezer in the history of anime. He could even make a home-video about skating fails
and everyone and their mom would throw and oscar at him and declare him the biggest genius. He's literally the Joe Biden of anime (or Joss Whedon, change one).

Can't believe this needs to be said, but Dangers in My Heart is not that good...

I'm unable to see how it even clears an 8.2 on MAL (my tastes aside). It's literally a carbon copy of every other self-insert episodic school romance with a cheeky female lead and a timid male lead that happens to have some decent production value. That's it...

You don’t have to like everything about anime to call yourself an anime fan. That said, if the only thing you like about anime is cleavage and ass, then you're probably less in a fandom and more suffering from an unhealthy addiction.

I relish & revel in anime (or any story format) that ends without closure; when it's written that way, not when the story was supposed to continue and got cut from new season's etc.

- Vast amounts of members in an audience prefer closure in a story's ending; I never purposely chose against closure because of that, it's just something I noticed about me that was fringe.

- Closure is a blessing when it happens in reality, so it's nice to see it unfulfilled because most writers in any medium lean towards having it.

- Being an artist of different mediums myself; I don't necessarily like when imagination of the story/characters ends with the story, I like to wonder about the possibilities. Lack of closure does that.

- Too much closure in a story's ending can take away from it more than you think. Notice I said can. And I do believe closure in certain stories is a must as well, I'm not biased - just a preference.

- When no closure is well written and presented; first time you see it there's a state of shock, then eventually curiosity, if you end up liking it you keep your fingers crossed to experience it again... although spoilers will ruin all of it - and most people are so fanatic they can't help themselves, which is ok - to each their own, they just don't know what their missing going into anime/shows/movies blind.

A very low percentage of romance anime are actually worth watching. the majority of them are made for 12yo (which I guess isn't a terrible thing on its own, but then you include sexual stuff too???) or are otherwise just terrible. The only genres worse than romance are yaoi, yuri, ecchi and isekai.

beauty marks are disgusting and ruins any character for me, they're absolutely unnecessary. It's like someone accidently left a pen dot on the character design and instead of removing it they just kept it and now whenever a character has a beauty mark i can only focus on that and wishing it was removed.
