Is Usagi this self centered in the original or it's just the remake

Well is she, never watched the 1992 Sailor Moon
Very annoying character indeed, the fact that she got jealous over her own child is just laughable , and why is she so obsessed with tuxedo mask

She is even more over the top in the 1992 anime. They really played up the clumsy/air-headed/crybaby trope. The remake is more similar to the manga.

She does undergo a lot of character development over the course of the story so I’d say it’s still worth watching or just read the manga which is beautiful.

she’s just the same in the 90s anime, main story line and filler. but yeah she does go under a lot of character development over the course of the series in both the 90s and in crystal

I don't remember much about 90s anime except Classic and Super S since those are the only seasons i have rewatched a few times but in manga, Usagi gets her character development all thanks to Chibi-usa (just like how Chibi-usa inspired from Usagi) and she stars getting mature at the end of Black Moon Arc. Usagi sees herself in Chibi-usa when she turns into Black Lady and so she finally understands how she felt as an unloved, alone child with trauma. She realizes how stupid her unhealthy obsession and spoiled behaviours, and the importancy of her job. Usagi is the one that protects Mamoru and everyone after Black Moon Arc.

Yes, Usagi is more a spoiled bratty teenager at the beginning of Crystal/Manga compared to 90s anime but that is what makes her character better written, so we can get a brilliant and inspiring female protagonist character development. Honestly i wouldn't like her if she was perfect or strong from the beginning.
