An incredible match for sure. Aoi's basics have improved by a mile in this match. He managed to use eye contacts and even perfect the 3-man triangle tactic. He still wants to be the forward who makes goals but this time he considers his team as a part of it. You can say what you want. But, Aoi's just a genius and his "talent'' is just underdeveloped. His full vision of the field and instincit ability is just a blessing. He'll be a top player sooner or later after getting the basics done and what more to come. I loved the last 2 goals where Ohtama had his moment to shine and Aoi's own goal. Even the famous 16-year old Kuribayashi complimented our boy Aoi. Anyway, a BBQ to celebrate the win and the food wars part kicks in. Aoi's also getting some help from Anri by doing image training. He's a lucky man to get so much help from everyone around him.

This is the first time I see the main sponsor after seeing just his daughter for so long, and he seems like a passionate fan. Esperion is very lucky to have a sponsor like him. In a real world most clubs get sponsor from a shady business tycoon that violate human right.

Not only Ashito doesn't realized his talent, he also doesn't realized that he's a womanizer. "I'll score a goal for you" will make any girl fall for him. Me too even though I'm not a girl LOL.

Another great episode. I especially liked those interaction of crows and how they explained the tactics. Nah more like instincts I want to see what Aoi can do once he figure out this talent. 5/5

It seems awfully cheap to have this big arc about Aoi being desperate to learn and frustrated they won't tell him and then say that he was ignoring lessons off screen. I did enjoy the actual game, though, and the crows motif is well done even if it's hard not to think of Haikyuu.

Shit, more and more Aoi interaction with Hana truly build up something that i couldn't describe by a word, but then can't agree more with Ohtomo expression when seeing them. Lmao. Interesting how they explain more detail about the triangle move, and then, 'the bird-eye'. One more talented senpai being shown up, and surely become a darn cliffhanger for the next. Its Kuribayashi, that i expect to also have the same bird-eye talent like Aoi, since he also get the same, kinda, i assume, playmaker position, judge by those tv broadcast.

Summer is absolutely be more and more interesting season with the additional new cour of Ao Ashi. Can't wait to see the next...

Also looking forward for next cour! finally we have good football anime that's decent. Been a while after last time Giant Killing aired, huh?

It's amazing to see Aoi's scope of soccer broaden now that he understands that its a team sport. This lead to Team B's first victory. Aoi's ability to see the field from a bird's eye view is starting to resonate with his skills as a soccer player.

Love the crows commentary in this episode, "It's clear to us because we are seeing it from above, so don't be mad at the players", really put us into perspective as football fans who watch the game from bird's eye view.

Let's talk ball

Triangle: core of buildup

It's as simple as it gets. Like they told us in the episode 3 people link with eachother to try to build up some kind of play that can produce goals. The thing about the triangle is its efficiency.

Football is a fast paced game, one hardly has thinking time and in a game of 90mins an average players has possession of the ball for an average time of just a single minute.

So Passing the ball is the most effective and efficient way to score goals in football.

Why?
Becz it's faster,
-it's has an element of -unpredictability
-it conserves player's stamina
-it's press resistant (pressing means when opponent runs at you in order to close down space and to win the ball)

Ao discovery the triangle in this match.
Triangle is one of the various patterns of passing the ball around the pitch.
What advantage 3 people have over 2 people is simple having extra support, support in numbers.
If one teammate is marked (marking in football means an opponent checking over your teammate) you simply pass to the other guy and vice-versa.

Playing in a triangle is like the very nxt step a player learns after basic passing.

Take a look at the image about how premier league teams pass the ball in triangles (season 2021-2022) just google it and it will be the 1st image shown.

(I try posting it here but the entire comment got removed lol)

Look how good triangles Man City and Liverpool stir up together. And they scored the most goals in the league.
The teams with little no. of triangles
are not so surprisingly scored lesser amount of goals eg. manchester united

(every team has passed some amount of balls in a triangle but the image only shows it if they do it in more)

Every single professional football team and even many amature teams works with the triangle, the difference is the quality of the triangle.

Ashito: The Flow state

Bluelock readers must be familiar with this term. Its a mental aspect of sports and it actually exists in real life.

Any athelete, yes ANY athelete even you and me, it doesn't have to be football it can literally be any sport it can even be any other activity, ANYONE can enter the flow state.

I will give an example, did it ever happen to you like you are playing a video game for 10 mins and then you check the time and it's been 2 hours since you started playing! You ask yourself "geez the time flew by so fast".
OR
Pov: watching a good anime episode

Yeah that's the flow state.

I have personally been in the flow many times while playing football.

When one is in flow state, they are
- deeply immensed in the activity.
- soo concentrated they lose sense of time.

We will talk about flow in terms of football here.

Flow is the state in which a player performs at the maximum of their ability. They don't need a second thought, it's like everything is happening on its own.

You know what, when one is in flow, they don't really feel tired, they are tired but they don't feel it becz they are enjoying the moment.
It's actually like a superpower but anybody can have the key to it.

Anybody can enter flow but not everyone enters flow, becz there are elements like pressure and discomfort which ruins the pleasure. Well great players seek pressure and they enjoy working with it and ofcourse they enter the flow state more than other players who crumble under the pressure.

How to enter flow?

There is no real rocket science here, one just needs to enjoy what they are doing with a little bit of challenge to work the brain, otherwise without challenge things will get boring and you won't enjoy it.

Ao entered the flow state but he looked tired in the eyes. Thats becz of all his weeks of overtraining at nights. He was not feeling the fatigue becz he was immensed in the game.

Another thing that's actually NOT a super power is how Ao was able to predict the opponents movements.

Many players can do that and it's called "reading the play" . It comes with experience and talent does affect the quality one can "read the play".

Every player weather its a defender, a midfielders, a forward they all have ability to read the play but they use it for different purposes.

Ashito just unknowingly and effortlessly swooning the ladies. Ashito and Hana is meant to be.

I have to say that i was a bit disappointed with the lack of hype during Aoi's goal, the crow narration before was neat but after that, the music just wasn't worthy of a climax and the goal came abrupt. No big yelling or celebrations, just a still frame of it.

Only this though, everything else i really liked as usual, Ashito and Hana continue to be absolutely adorable together, Ashito's development is awesome and the tactics being throughly looked at, great.

The intro 50% True, 50% False...

3 players are the Base of Soccer/Football: Indeed.
Triangles are the Base of Soccer/Football: False

If the 3 players match perfectly, they just need a pair of passes to do a "Line" and reach the rival's goalkeep... (Classic Italy/Germany/Netherlands the clear examples)

Then, if u need more than 3 pases to reach the rival goalkeep, they need to practice more "as a team".

Great Episode, i hope this series keep it like this.

Ashito out there literally burning brain cells in order to keep his "eagle eye" active lol.

Overall, fantastic way to conclude the first half of this 2-cour anime. Learning new concepts, winning the first official match, improving the relationship between the players and also not to mention Ashito and Hana making up after their argument with Ashito even dedicating a goal to her. Seriously, what a chad.

And now on a different note, that female photographer is so annoying. Has she ever watched a football match before? Because what Anri said about Ashito being able to predict the movements of other players makes perfect sense within football "logic".

Wow, that was a nice touch by making the crows explain the rare ability of eagle's eyes in their own perspective. I remember reading in the manga before and it was only plastered in the panels in a narrative like form.

I am super hyped that a lot of viewers appreciates Ashito's development now. Bet you're gonna love him more in the future episodes and matches where you can further witness his tremendous growth as a player. I started reading the manga last week since I cannot wait for the next episode anymore and just caught up with the latest chapters. And all I can say is there are so much more to look forward to this adaptation! Not only Ashito but with the other characters as well (like Akutsu hehehe. I hate him in the 1st episode but slowly his character is growing on me after reading the manga).

I just hope and pray that the future anime adaptations will also be as powerful and intense as the manga :)

Ashito's finally got the hang of the trio formation

As someone who doesn't know jack about soccer and only played it for fun, I really appreciate how well they explain 'The Triangle'/3 man formation.

Aoi's getting into the game so well now that he can make guesses and predictions on how he, his teammates, and opponents will move and what kind of plays they will make. Ashito's improving a LOT!

Anri giving tips to Aoi?

I wanna see more of Team A and the actual national Junior League team.

This episode felt so fucking short lol. Amazing episode. Aoi totally wooed Hana with that final goal lol
