Curious if you think the movie makes use of its runtime well? I am more used to anime movies being within the 2 hour mark or less. I usually will cut the movie watching into 2 sessions for longer movies as, they can be very draining sometimes to watch.

It's so good you actually don't feel the time passing. I was so ready for more after it ended, which really pissed me off since it's pretty much the last worthy content adapted from the Haruhi Suzumiya's series.

I dont think that it uses it extremely well, there are clearly some points being dragged. You can divide the movie in two though, there are extremely clear inflection points so it could be like watching three long episodes

Movies of 100 minutes and longer usually have me bored very quickly, but this is the longest movie that had my full attention to all of it's runtime

Bigger the movie better. That is why people prefer tv series over movie. I always crave for more when its too short.

This one dont have any pacing issue in my opinion atleast.

It was really well paced, except I felt the beginning was a bit drawn out (Kyon’s desperation part)

The movie is excellent anyways
If you are from South East Asia, then I request you, when you will start an anime, you search if it is available on Muse Asia and Ani-one Asia, before looking through piracy websites

Literally my favorite anime movie. It was long because it was basically it's own season. It's definitely worth watching in 1 sitting.

I never minded this because Kyon is an excellent character.

Yes, very very much so.
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

It's debatable. The only part I can really criticize is the first 20-30 minutes being a lot of reintroductions or getting used to the setting. It is quite slow and might not be important after bingeing through the TV series but still necessary for people who just wanted to watch this movie itself. I would also say that the art and directing really kept me engaged through this section as well, I love that cold and dark atmosphere we get.

It's my favourite anime film, perfectly paced.
I'm fine with its length since it uses that.

I think the reason they did that was just to provide some sort of background information to people who didn’t watch the original show despite it being a sequel so they could still have some sort of idea what’s going on even if they didn’t watch it.

Yes I 100% agree. Kyon is literally the reason this show is great! The other characters are interesting to say the least but nobody even comes close to Kyon.

Honestly should have been made season 3. I felt like 2 hours and 40 minutes was pretty long for a movie. Still liked it a lot though, but the first 20 minutes was a bit of a drag 😅
