Why? Is this arc shorter than S1's arc?

The 1st arc was 54 chapters, the 2nd arc is from chapter 55 to 100/101, so 45/46 chapters.
They will add a lot of anime original content to fill things up and it will benefit the story and characters a lot.

This arc is pretty much perfection it doesn’t need more than 12-16 episodes everything is fully fleshed out

Even tho Slave have less chapters, the pacing is slower because the amount of action has been lower down. So I think 24 is good.
And I’m down with any original content that improve the story.

Well, Wouldn't want them to adapt the farm arc in 12 episodes. So its awesome that it'll be 24 episodes focusing only on Farm arc.

I think first 20 episodes will adapt the Farmland arc, and episodes 21 to 24 will be Gudrid's arc, ending at Chapter 109.

I don’t think gudrid was in the trailer, so could that be a hint that they’ll only adapt farmland arc and no more, cos that’s a pretty big thing to miss out in a trailer, unless ofc it’s in the next trailer(s)

I mean it is great! Considering that the pacing of this arc is a lot slower (there is almost no fights that speed up the story), I doubt that they will add any fillers.

The manga is currently in its 4th and final arc. Season 2 is definitely going to cover the 2nd arc only.

Why would they need to add fillers? Just adapt the farm arc in 20 episodes and finish it off with Gudrid's mini arc in 4 episodes.

Let's pray to MAPPA and hope it's not a split cour for S2.

They might change their mind last minute and do Vinland Saga S2 Part 2 later.

On one hand, that means a longer wait until I can binge watch the entire season, but on the other hand, I'm pretty happy with this news. Like most people probably I thought this season would be twelve/thirteen episodes max, so this is a pleasant surprise. Maybe you have a different definition of what filler is, but I think of filler as nothing taking up space that doesn't add much to the overall plot, but from the looks of it, it seems like they'll be adding more to the story to help flesh out certain parts of the narrative and I'm all for that. I remember excitedly going back through the farm arc a few months ago and was a bit surprised by how fast it had progressed. I found myself wishing certain parts had gotten more time or we had been able to see more, so this second season is giving me what I want and I hope it does not disappoint. Hopefully Makoto Yukimura is being consulted on the changes and additions that will be made.

EDIT: Then again, maybe they plan to cover past the farm arc with the second season and that's why it'll be longer. I'm more excited if they expand on the farm arc.

Ah, MAPPA has proven to be able to juggle multiple shows at once. I'm guessing unless the core staff members are involved in both, this won't be the case. Having 2 split cours wouldn't be an issue for me though.

the problem is that both air on Sunday and almost at the same time(midnight), it just doesn't feel good to air 2 shows on same day, especially considering this is the final part of aot.

On the bright side the core staff is the same as season 1 from wit, mappa is just funding and providing additional support

Ah okay, I didn't take that into consideration. As things stand, there's no info on SnK Kanketsu-hen airing in Spring '23, so let's first see if that'll be the case.

They already added some filler in season 1. Like thorfinn getting imprisoned at the end.
