That Akutsu dude is such a clown. Such a shame they are in Japan because in places like Brazil or Argentina (places where football is almost a religion), he wouldn't be trash-talking about one's skills and parents just like that.

Anyways, I gotta say this episode was... "okay". For an establishment whose purpose is to raise and advise future stars, its coaches sure leave a lot to be desired and as for the discipline aspect, I don't know if they are all blind or just don't care about the fact of Akutsu going around intimidating younger players from the same institution. sigh* and here I was expecting for him to get at least a warning for almost breaking Ashito's ribs last time they played...

But well, leaving that aside, it was nice to see Ashito taking things more seriously and now I can't wait to see what he will learn from Togashi.

I like the characters but it is starting to drag, hope it picks up in excitement over the next few eps.

Kind of funny how people are complaining because it's not 'hype'. It's only 8 episodes in and this is a manga with over 250+ chapters that actually gives a shit about the development of the character's skills and attitude over the course of the story. If everything was as easy as Kuroko no Basket (it was fun to watch not realistic) almost everyone would be playing soccer or any sport for that matter at a high level with not much hard work. Also these are coaches working for a club. As someone who played for a club myself. Unless you're playing from a youth setup by that I mean like U-13 or even younger they're not gonna be holding your hand. You gotta work it out yourself and keep training. Aoi was essentially scouted for a certain skill, the only thing he was able to verbalize to Fukuda (which should be pretty obvious) and later on there is a major twist in the story for Aoi because of this skill.

It's a seinen show. Just wait it out and let the story develop. It'll be a good watch over the long run.

As for the episode itself. It was good, some interactions are a little over dramatic but it is a TV show after all but the pacing so far has been very good and is setting up nicely for major character and plot developments that is if they keep being as faithful to the manga.

It's like they're straight up harassing Aoi, clearly there's no need to go this extreme. Also it almost felt like an exaggeration when they were talking about Aoi's lack of skills, I mean he's got selected so atleast give him that much credit.

hes not bad at all, he may still be a good/instinctual player, hes just not good enough when hes here with all the others who have received such elite training....why would you just completely miss out the whole point of the story lol

i loved it when he realised he knows close to nothing, and went to so desperately ask for help/advice, that character development is so good, i didnt actually expect it from him actually

that guy who is trash talking him is in the wrong genre, he shld be in a BL or manhwa lol i think his aggressiveness would be better received there

taira♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ so cute and so kind♡√√ and yuuma too♡♡♡♡♡ i loved how they introduced more of yuuma's personality & skills

hana was such a cute kid, i love her personality♡ usually these female characters in sports anime often feel like token characters but she doesnt to me, i love how natural the story is just flowing & everyone, whether subtly or not are playing a part in it, looking forward to togashi's development too seeing how hes observing the rest

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there

There was something seriously wrong with the audio production this episode, voices were too quiet compared to the BGM, I even thought there was something wrong with my setup.

Anyways, the story of the episode itself was great.

Hey man, playing soccer ain't all about scoring goals...I mean it is but not always. What I mean is sometimes pulling a defender is the best you're gonna do all game. You're simply not going to be a rocks star every single time you step on the pitch and that's ok. It's a team sport and something our MC here simply cannot comprehend at this point. Hope he snaps out of it soon.

Kinda surprised he doesn't know how to trap. As a forward thats like 50% of your skill set especially given that this guys entire high school career centered around other people passing the ball to him. Seems a little contrived to me.

Anyway I know the short guy said not to trust the motorcycle dude but what other choice does our boy have? Interesting to see what sorts of training they go through in the next episode.

What the hell is wrong with you, dude? The senior dude needs to calm down. None of the coaches are aware of his awful behaviour?
It’s incredible that he doesn't even know the basics, there must be a reason for this. He must, however, refrain from yelling while practising in the middle of the night. I'm happy to see the trio helping one another, and Togashi appears to be the next to assist Aoi with his basics.

This episode frustrated me a little. I don't have a problem with Aoi having to work on his basics like ball control and passing since he hasn't been brought up through the football academy and only been playing at school. The issue becomes when you make him look much worse than anyone else and even the coaches have no hope in him from the beginning. I get that he was picked by Fukuda and not the other coaches but you still have to guide him and not give up on him from the start. On top of that you have all these mean spirited characters constantly bullying him. It all seems like forced drama and doesn't have the maturity of a show like haikyu. Still, as a fan of sports and sports anime who's been wanting a good football anime for a while I'm gonna continue and see if it gets better

I'm going to assume kill it then kick it is their term for trapping the ball. The fact the dude could make a youth club without knowing how to trap the ball is crazy.

You learn to trap just by playing naturally and getting a feel for the ball and how it reacts to your body. For him to be playing for years and still be unable to trap is another level of dense.

This is an amazing sports anime masterpiece, which opened up and increased my knowledge, especially in terms of football, now I as an observer found Ashito in Trent Alexander Arnold (an English footballer) playing for the Liverpool club, before I didn't really mind it, but after seeing this anime I feel that my view of football is the same as the character "Anri" in this anime which is oriented towards strengthening the midfield, and now I know how strong the influence of a wing defender who can play at different levels is. Currently, even according to what is in this anime, Liverpool and Trent Alexander Arnold show their fangs with the playing style shown in this anime, so in my opinion "this is a very amazing anime, which can change your view of football, 10/10 "I hope to deliver the next season as soon as possible. Thank You.

No no no no, we do not need a second relationship! Anyway, I find it irritating that the coaches aren't telling Aoi how he can improve, and when they do, they just let him flounder without actually guiding him at all. I know he's just one player in a whole team, but come on. He's got so much energy, the least they can do is direct it somewhere productive.

I get that somehow Aoi lacks the basics but still he shouldn't be going around asking his technically classmates on how to do it ffs. The coaches aka the teachers should be teaching him no? Otherwise why tf are these kids there? I'm sensing a massive lack of guidance from the adults here man.
