I’ve been enjoying Gintama for the past few months, but its taken me almost 6 months just to get up to episode 80(Yagyu Arc). Am I the only one who has a problem bingeing this show? I’ve loved the serious arcs, but some of the comedy episodes just kill my interest. I love some of the comedy don’t get me wrong, but does anyone have like a guide to what episodes aren’t important at all? I love the Shinsengumi and katsura the most.

Watching gintama was a bumpy ride for me too, sometimes I would spend all day binging it other times I would spend months without touching it, just take your time and watch at your own pace.

Gintama is a weird series to me. You either love the comedy or love the action, because one part will likely make it tough to consistently love the series. I loved the comedy, and didn’t care for the action or serious parts. I blitzed through the first 300 episodes in about 3 weeks.

First 50 ep are hard to binge bcs they are all episodic. After that there are progressivly more and more arcs so its easier to binge it.

I personally took months to finish even tho I was originally planning to binge it in a few weeks.
The problem is that it doesn't go in one direction to keep me hooked, the comedy episodes are a hit or a miss, some can be hilarious while others being meh.

I binged the entire show in about a month in a half to 2 months and loved every episode. It’s not for everyone 🤷‍♂️ I think by episode 80 you either love it or just think it’s meh. if it took you 6 months to get to episode 80 I’d suggest dropping the show and moving on. I doubt your opinion will change much seeing how long it took you to get to episode 80. Gintama is what it is. If your looking for a super serious show look elsewhere. The show is episodic by nature and the serious arcs happen few and far between. Like I said before if you are looking for a serious show I’d suggest looking elsewhere because it sounds like to me at least you aren’t enjoying it and only looking for the serious arcs and that’s not what this show is about.

Took me 5 years from start to finish. I had periods where I was only mood for one or two episodes a day, and some days I could easily watch 10. Was also several times where it went months from watching any Gintama episodes. The last 50-100 episodes went very fast.

For me personally, I took around 10 months to get to the last arc, which i am currently on right now. Now being a few episodes and a movie away from finishing the series i’m kinda glad that i didn’t binge it. Once you are nearing the end, you start to wish that it wouldn’t come to an end. Taking time with it is probably the best way to go, cause with such a great series it will be sad to see it come to and end. Enjoy the ride.

I started it on 18th of October last year and currently I'm on episode 230
Sometimes I just take breaks , other times I binge more than 10+ episodes. Gintama is my favourite anime up to date. I've been watching it parallel with Jojo's and some weekly animes , but it really is the best. I wanna binge it so I finish it but at the same time I'm taking it slow because everything is great in this show. If you don't like it up to episode 150 or so (After Yoshiwara in Flames arc) , Gintama is just not for you. If yes , continue watching it for the serious upcoming arcs and the amazing comedy

i started watching gintama because of the mal ratings as it has almost nine rating in all seasons
at first i decided to watch it 1-2 episode a day but when a serious arc i binge watch the arc in one day and gradually when the comedy inceases i started wayching 4-5 episodes a day and from shougun assassination arc to last movie it didn't even took me 10 days to complete it
gintama is one of the best anime i have ever watched

Ya I started hating it too at first cause I watch like 4 episodes and thought it was boring. But then I watched the next 10 in a day when I was bored. Since then I’ve just wanted to watch different stuff way more so I’ve been slacking

To ease some of the arcs I decided to watch some arcs on a discord server with my friends, given they also wanted to get into it. made the Anime even more enjoyable at comedy heavy parts

Well it took me 2 weeks to finish all the 360+ episodes so I think I did binge it.

Its my all time fvt anime, but I personally dont think its an anine that you should binge. Its been 2 years since I've been watching and Im still at Gintama: Porori-hen, (6th season I think, the one before Silver Soul Arc). Well that's mostly because I want to savour it and don't want it to end quickly.

Gintama is like medicine that needs to be taken when you're feeling down or on a rainy day, and you'll go bad if you take a lot of medicine at once.

But eventually you'll fall deeply in love with the anime.

the comedy will most likely grow on you. i had the same problem until season 4, but in retrospect season 1 would be my favorite season if i rewatched
