I'm a big fan of this series too, but I think that title goes rightfuly to Kaguya-sama s3. They nailed everything a romcom should be, and the studio animated it so splendidly! Still can't get over how well this season went...

I think you misunderstood what I meant by "anime season". It's the season which a bunch of shows air in, as in four seasons of a year (winter, spring, summer, and fall/autumn). I didn't mean it like a certain season of a certain show.

Hi guys I have done some research and I have found some info on the latest Volume 14 of the Light Novel released in JP. Turns out Season 2 is still in production so it might be delayed. Hopefully a Winter 2023 release date.

It is indeed concerning that there is hardly any news despite Fall season being about only 6 weeks away or so.

But, then again, think back to Psycho-Pass S3 where they announced it when there was under a month left till the airing season began. Here's to hoping this won't be under the conventional cour of episodes (11-13 eps) though.

Oh, so the "so it might be delayed" is actually just your interpretation. Assuming the anime still airs this year as originally stated, it'd be "still in production" just as well, let alone back when the cover was designed (in July, at the latest).

Well, it's supposed to air in 2022, but depending on scheduling and the number of episodes, it may start airing in November or even December without technically missing the stated deadline. Which sounds like it could be the case potentially. But I think it's safe to say they'd announce it at least a month in advance.

That's not how it usually works. If the anime's gonna go in air in 2022, the only wait for it is to start in october (or rarely in last days of september). So it's about 2 to 3 weeks now and we still don't even have a key visual. If it somehow starts in december, it's like counted in the next winter season. This is how seasons and cours works.

If you consider yourself in a position to explain how something works, I expect you're aware of counterexamples. It's not uncommon at all for a show to start later in the season, more than a month later, in fact, as I'm going to demonstrate using recent history.

Exhibit 1: In the upcoming season, KanColle is scheduled to start in November because it's only 8 episodes, so it doesn't need to start earlier to fit into the season. The specific date isn't even announced yet.

Exhibit 2: AoT Final Season was scheduled for fall 2020 and started in December (technically part of the fall programming season) with 16 episodes. The date announcement came on September 24. While most of the show took place during the winter season, it was announced for fall and started in what had been fall season.

The expectation for a show to start within the first month is valid if its episode count is typical for its programming slot, which is from 11 (relatively rare and mostly specific to noitaminA) to 14 (even more rare) for a single-cour standard-length anime, because programming operators—TV stations in our case—really don't like unnecessary overlaps between seasons and do everything to avoid them, barring extraordinary circumstances. But we don't know how many episodes Bofuri S2 will have, so that expectation is currently based on nothing in particular. Honzuki S1 was 14 episodes, S2 was 12, and S3 was 10. Fumetsu S1 was 20 episodes, and the upcoming S2 starts late in the month so the current expectation is for it to have 10. There's no bulletproof pattern to this. If Bofuri has a lower episode count, and is experiencing a production hell, it may well start in late October or early November without missing the "2022" deadline, and we may get no confirmation for another couple weeks.
