I've had this show on my list for probably 2 years now and I've watched it on and off for so long, struggling to continue. It's only 47 episodes and whenever I start to get back into it, I find myself wanting to watch something else. Has anyone else felt this way?

Every episode is almost the same. There are too many episodes for what it is. I recommend watching the original 7 episodes OVA series and the three films. You don't need more than that.

yeah it's great, every episode is a new adventure with a good mix of action and comedic moments. A great watch for anyone who likes mecha anime

Same, it's a bit boring to be honest, specially compared to the movies that were a lot better and more serious.
I enjoyed the movies so much that I want to finish this series but I'm also struggling, watched 17 episodes last year and now I'm trying to pick it up again.

It's the Best comedy mecha police anime ever! so yes I enjoyed it.

Like some of the others up-thread, I started on this over a year ago, and up until recently have only managed the occasional episode - sometimes months apart. While I love the 80s animation style and music, I'm not the biggest fan of overlong mecha battles and prefer the interactions/comedy stuff between the characters.

I really struggled with those first 12 or so episodes, but having started watching more regularly recently in the hope of finishing the show before the end of the year, I found things picked up after that. The best stories IMO involve the crew interacting with one-off guest characters such as the foreign prince (episode 13), the idol singer (episode 18) the Yakuza Boss (episode 22) and the plane hijacker (episode 24). In fact, the latter two eps are easily the funniest of the 26 I've seen so far.

Just reached the point of Kanuka leaving and Takeo coming in as her replacement, so will be interesting to see what the change of characters does for the second half of the series.
