What a flat finale. The series was ok overall, but suffered from the lack of consequences (little to no deaths despite all the potentially fatal violence).

Whoa, this was a show that I looked forward to watch every week and it's finished airing now :(

From the time, Bojji went roaming around in his underpants to the ending where he chases after his dream, this whole show has been nothing but awesome!!!! My boy's grown so much from episode 1 and look where he's at now!!!!! And I really liked the ending where he decided to follow his dream of building his own kingdom and I'm glad that kage too is with him!!!! Off to a new journey!!!!! I know my man can do it!!!!! Hoping for a second season!!!!!

AWW YEAAAHH QUEEN HILING AND DORSHE (2:27) ♡♡♡♡♡♡

I still can't believe that I will see the moment where Daida proposes to Miranjo... Miranjo, the one behind this mess, the one who betrayed and used Daida for the sake of King Bosse, and even so, Daida forgave her and proposed to her. Daida has really grown into a mature and great man. I'm still amazed by the change in his demeanor. So cool, Daida! And Miranjo too, I know she was a victim and what she did was all for the sake of King Bosse who was the only person in her life, but what she did was not that easy for me to forgive.. but if everyone had forgiven her and she herself realized all her deeds and promised to atone for her sins by making everyone happy.... then I hope you too can start your life again well and peacefully, Miranjo. I hope you and Daida can always smile, laugh, cry, and be happy together in ups and downs forever.

But seriously cool, I'm really amazed by the change in Daida's demeanor. He became such an respectable figure, very mature and responsible. At first he was a person who was prideful, selfish and self-oriented, but look at him now.. I respect him!

Just when I was thinking that Bojji and Kage's friendship was great and sweet, at the same time Kage suddenly decided to leave Bojji's side.. :") but in the end, Bojji decided to take off his crown and gave it to Daida. Even though Bojji really wants to become a king as Bosse's successor, I think the importance and value of each individual's life is different and can change, so for Bojji, along his journey so far he has been able to discover, feel and experience so many things which are all because of the support by his best friend, Kage. I support his decision and let's continue Bojji and Kage's journey!

Also before, I've also wondered why people don't cut off Ouken's limbs and take it far away and keep it out of Ouken's reach (so that Ouken can't re-attach his limbs, to be honest what I actually imagine is similar to what happened to Celty in Durarara, more or less), so what just happened to Ouken in this episode is exactly what I imagined... plus his head was eaten by a fish :/ hahaha, so curious what happens to Ouken after this xD

By the way, maybe I'm the one who misunderstood, didn't really understand, or forgot... but in the early episodes there was a little girl who once helped hide little Kage when his mother was killed? Who is that little girl and has she ever appeared again?

First part was fucking amazing, the second part was a slap in the face.

Most of it was just action upon action which was of literally no consequence at all. Several episodes of fighting with the most flat, static animation ever, unlike what we saw in the first season. It didn't even feel like it was important, so when the big healing came which revived everyone, it just... meant nothing at all.
Too much time spent on inconsequential scenes, meanwhile the important stuff gets glossed over within several minutes. I was literally waiting the whole 2nd part to see Miranjo's past and her involvement with the demon, and when it actually was revealed I felt insulted. The whole fucking crux of the show hinges on the actions of the past, and we went through it within a matter of minutes with no emotional depth whatsoever.

The biggest slap to the face though was Miranjo's ~ redemption ~... Daida is suddenly a super uber hyper simp for her, fucking proposing IN FRONT OF BOJJI despite the fact that hes practically seen all of her past, and everyone just laughs it off and goes haha o well hes da king wat can we do tbh...

Now don't get me wrong, I am aware that the source material is largely to blame. However - the first part handled the issues it had fucking amazingly, rather than adapting the manga panel for panel including the flat storytelling it had, it bothered to adapt it in such a way that it actually wonderfully portrayed the depth of each character.

Plotwise, the second part wasn't even so bad. The three brothers and their dilemma of Ouken losing his mind to being immortal was fucking tragic... but it was NOT handled well at all, from the obvious animation quality, the absolute flat storytelling and even Ouken himself. The moment when Ouken tells Despa that he doesn't need to save him yet SHOULD have made me sob, considering the emotional weight of it all - Despa trying so hard to find a way to return their brother to how he used to be, Desha growing more and more numb and callous due to the weight of everything forcing him to play the role of a villain -...... yet there were no tears because the anime literally managed to become so sterile and flat that I just didn't care anymore at that point.

Had they done their magic like they did with the first part - then I probably would've called this a masterpiece. It was almost there. Maybe I would've even agreed with Daida forgiving Miranjo. But the magic has gone, and it makes me so sad because I gave this anime so many chances every week. Even Bojji just felt like a side character during this whole fiasco...

What I really like about this finale is the fact that Bojji decides to create his own kingdom, and not just inherit the throne from his father. Authoritarian regimes tend to build a sense of entitlement in successors to the throne. Bojji, however, is determined to build from the ground up his own place in the world. That being said, I will miss Bojji!!!
“Why does an apple fall when it is ripe? Is it brought down by the force of gravity? Is it because its stalk withers? Because it is dried by the sun, because it grows too heavy, or because the boy standing under the tree wants to eat it? None of these is the cause.... Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own free will is in the historical sense not free at all but is bound up with the whole course of history and preordained from all eternity.”

No, it did not end with Bojji becoming the number 1 king.
No, it did not end with every bad character dead/defeated.
Could there be more to tell? Yes, of course there could be.

Did I enjoy it for what it is? This fairytale? Yes, I did more so than many other recently-viewed series.
If I talk to one of my friends about anime, Ousama Ranking will surely come up. For now... Will smile and appreciate what was given.
I hope to see an adult bojji where he can talk in future. Maybe somehow his curse could be lifted

Though there are a lot of questions left unanswered, I thoroughly enjoyed this last episode of Ousama ranking. I feel there is a possibility of a season 2 and if so, I'm curious how they plan on pushing forward the plot. This series overall was great and I most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for ANYTHING to watch. This certainly ticked all my boxes. Well made, Bravo.

my Initial score was 9/10 but I'd have to take out 1 point for the ridiculousness of episode 22.

I still feel like there should be some price to pay for all that fiasco Miranjo caused.

Overall this felt like a fresh breath to anime these days and is good modern fairy tale.

The show presented its themes right and radiate its theme of positivity and hope. Amazing art and boy will I never forget the 2nd opening and the MV. Amazing.

8/10. See you again sweet prince and bright shadow.

The only episodes that stained the show for me was episode 22 and 23.. I don't understand how Miranjo was so easily forgiven after all she's done.. I get what the show was going for but the execution just wasn't there. Before episode 22 I was gonna give this a 9 but the ending was meh, 8.5/10

Disappointing how much the quality has fell during the second cour. although it's not surprising at all, lots of shows that starts unusually strong from the very beginning tend to eventually drop in quality somewhere along the line.

Overall the series was a 5/10 for me, the first 10 episodes of the dialogues were good, but it became too lenient later on to the point that it does not feel natural, there are two sides of the story but I felt that the author had been over thinking too much on it. Too the point that plot, and reasoning are all over the place, inconsistently. Especially episode 22....

Things drag on as well after episode 10, and I feel that Bojji has not changed as much aside from getting combat skills.

The ending however, gives me hope for season 2 that I will look forward to. Hopefully its better.

Liked that ending, it came as a surprise, though still disappointed to know it's not "the" end of the story. Overall I enjoyed it but it had a few stumbles (the whole Miranjo/Bosse backstory/motivation) that kept it from being truly great.
Still curious to know how Bosse and Hilig hooked up to make Daida o_0

What an amazing fairytale! We don't need anymore seasons, this was a perfect ending.
For a second i thought we'd have some 'Ocarina of time' ending where we have the set up to go find Kage in the next seasons.
I'm glad it ended the way it did.

Marrying someone who tormented your kingdom is really weird. They can instruct Miranjo to serve the kingdom for the rest of her life as a form of repentance. But, marrying her? That's really, really weird. Absurd. lol

Anyway, I'm so proud of Bojji! From someone most people are looking down at to someone respected by their kingdom. And he's now on his journey to establish his own kingdom with his most trusted friend, Kage. T_T I want to see more of Bojji's journey. We need season 2!!!

Last year, I wondered who between Odd Taxi and Ou-sama Ranking deserved the title of anime of the year. I've my anwser now.

This anime is far from the perfection, there is a problem with the rhythm, some strange things in the scenario. But I enjoyed the story it told me, a simple but beautiful story. And it's what I'll remember of it.

Anyway, it's a 7/10 for me.

That was the last episode? Tf? I watched the episode yesterday, didn't check MAL episode discussion post and today I check it and find that episode 23 was the last episode? There wasn't anything in that episode which felt like end of season, I literally had no idea it was the last episode until now.

The episode was good though but lacked the ending season vibes, no post-anime depression for Ousama Ranking haha.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

I feel that a lot of people have an issue with the last episode because it was a quick solution sort of thing and did not explain everything. Weird whole thing with Miranjo aside, they definitely left it like this for a chance for season 2. Apparently the manga is still ongoing so that is where they are covering the unanswered questions and plot points. I personally would rather them do it like this than create an anime original ending like they did with the original FMA anime. I really hope when the manga is further along they do a second season. I haven’t read the manga, so who knows, but maybe they will add a bit more substance with the whole Miranjo issues instead of just brushing off all of her previous evil deeds. Honestly even with the second cour not being the same level, I loved this anime. Like, for me it is a 10/10. Maybe because it seems so different from all the other stuff out there right now,.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

The earlier parts with adventure were really good, but it went downhill in the second half. If Bosse and Miranjo wanted to just travel together they should have just done that. Story trying to justify all of the murdering was not working for me at all.

This anime was good on the surface with having a lot of feel good moment and also shock moments but a lot of the problems Bojji came across were resolved with his sword technique or just dogging with speed. I assume they explained the sword technique with science so it doesn't come across as getting your power from some fairy tail power-up which would conflict with the weak getting stronger through hard work theme, but i assume you probably need a lot more power than Bojji can muster to do the stuff he did.
Lot of the plot points weren't resolved like
-Ouken's Immortality cure
-what happens when you become the rank 1 king
-The battle between the gods and the humans
-Hiling's Powers?
But i think the manga is still ongoing, so maybe in more seasons.
All of the big four had their own motive and made big changes throughout the story but in the end their motives were resolved by someone else like Bojji.

This classic tale of kindness, courage, forgiveness, and love warmed my heart and put tears on my eyes...even in the last episode.
I just baffles me how Ouken was defeated by Kingbo like that and how did Kingbo got back in the first place.

I will never forget the bond between Kage and Bojji. They are destined to face the adversities and happiness of life together. They experienced the difficulties ordinary people never experienced, but they learned to have the courage to go on living and be the light that people need.
The king is not a king without his sun, and the sun will never be the sun without his king.

The way they concluded everything FOR THE FIRST SEASON IS MAGICAL. A tale where children can learn a lot.

Looking back to the time when no one even talked about it and judged it, I can't believe how successful this season became. I am so proud. It was a great ride.
SEASON 2 will be like a bigger treasure waiting to be discovered. It will take a long time, but all the best for this inspiring story, author, and studio. KUDOS! I will wait.

The plot, writing and characters feels like they fed a bunch of random anime to machine learning and if went awfully wrong.

First episode I thought, ah they rip off Ghibli, looks nice but it went downhill fast.
A clear 1/10, plotwise it is the worst anime I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of bad stuff.

If you look at these points how could you think otherwise:
- A guy kills some kids father, then goes on becomes king and takes care of the kid
- Then plans to marry someone to sacrifice his son before he even conceived him
- After the son is born he vows to protect his family instead
- The kid kills his wife and sells her soul to the devil when she dies to survive
- Then the father supports her killing his second wife acting like he has no choice
- The point of the movie was that his son is weak because the king sacrificed his power, but the son not only turns strong he turns to be the strongest fighter in the world within a few days
- His second wife and his second son betray the kingdom, the latter ordering the assassination of his first son
- His other son marries the kid who attacked the country, killed the first queen, tried to kill the second queen
- The rightful king who just wanted to be king from the start passes the throne back to the traitor son and leaves

I will never get the time I invested in watching this back.

I was just really disappointed in the finale. Maybe I just don't want to lose Boji. I will miss him.

I wasn't happy with the end. Miranjo got off way too easily. It made no sense. At the very least she should've been made to admit her crīmes against Boji. She and Bosse stole 2 of his senses and basically turned a giant into a dwarf. I thought she'd be able to give him back something. I was hoping to see him look a bit more like his age. Now, she's going to be Queen? She's not even picking up trash by the road side. There's a few different ways the writer could've gone.

What made Kage think he could get a job with the way his clan was ridiculed and hunted? That was dumb. If he wasn't looking for his clan, he should've stayed in the Kingdom.

Did they really let Ouken's body crawl off? kimo!

Daida as king? Bosse hadn't taken control of him when he ordered Boji's death. He needs to be making amends himself.

Pretty good ep. I want more.

I think the whole "I'm going to marry Mirajo" thing was dumb. Put her on probation at least. Make her become a nun or a humanitarian, not future queen. Her crimes of body-snatching and resurrecting the dead and killing a queen and trying to overthrow the kingdom so she could be with the father-figure she was in love with were pretty big. Like, she wasn't a bandit. She conspired against royalty and used a child's body as a vessel for his father's unwilling soul.

Exactly. Everyone just accepting it made no sense. The 4 are down a hand, half a leg, and an eye, but hey Daida forgave her so never mind. Whar happened to her as a child was horrid, but so were her actions as an adult/spirit.

i thought the whole star wars ending with the ghosts in the sky was a little over the top and funny, i was kind of hoping boji would find kage and make him an advisor but then the show would end so they're going on a new adventure. pretty sure king bosse went on adventures as king, the queen could just rule in his stead until he gets back but whatever, we just get more of the show and i'm hoping for similar quality next time.

This was a great show that fell just shy of perfection.

The characters, animation and story were charming and compelling and easily kept me coming back each week for more. However, the pacing was wonky in a few places, Miranjo's storyline felt like it wrapped up a little too neat and tidy and her relationship with Daida over the years, though implied, was a bit lacking in on-screen development.

The finale felt a bit haphazard too with what was essentially entire additional character arcs for Kage and Bojji crammed into mere minutes at the end of the episode. Kage's "journey" and Bojji's brief tenure as king could easily have filled out several more episodes. Kage's in particular felt a bit arbitrary given the short length they had left to work with. The dangling plot threads for Desha, King-Bo, Ouken and a few others were a bit disappointing, but understandable since this is based on an ongoing manga. I hope we can see another season one day.

Despite some flaws, it was still a great show with a heartwarming ending. I almost dropped it to an 8, but I think I'll leave it at my original score of 9/10.

I'd my issues with the second half of the show as a whole but this episode ended the series off a pretty nice note. Bojji deciding to instead create a kingdom by himself just like his father with the company of Kage felt like the perfect close.

Queen Hilling regretting her choice earlier for forcefully putting Daida to the throne in the place of Bojji was a nice touch and those final words of wisdom to allow him to step away later on were great to see! She's been an amazing character since Episode 4 or so I think it was. I remember not liking her on first impression but she's definitely in the top 3 now.

I got a little concerned when Ouken came back to action but thankfully that fighter didn't hold back from the start at all. If not, things could've easily gotten very messy.

Honestly, the first half got my hopes really high but the second half with its chaotic pacing and messy plots kind of dragged it down for me. At least the Op and ED were both bangers (possible more so than the first two) so that's a bonus.

All in all, I'll settle with a 7/10. Wouldn't mind seeing a 2nd season at all. Wit Studio have done a fabulous job with this and I'm certainly looking forward to Bubble later in the Summer!

Edit: I totally forgot about the Hilling x Dorsche scene. No idea where it came from honestly but I’ll take it xD.

Same I really like the first half of the anime but the second half was kinda meh.Overall 8/10 for me
