So I saw the rating of both manga and anime and they were suprisingly different. Manga was way higher than anime
So I want to ask the manga readers did the studio change some content from manga or is it faithful?
And should I read the manga or watch the anime?

Blue Period Manga > Blue Period Anime because Seven Arc didn't do the anime any phenomenal in the art aspects, lack of emotion in the characters, which is what makes the series plain and unremarkable but the saving grace though about the anime is that they were able to convey about one's self-discovery towards painting and another saving grace is probably the OP/ED.

Read the manga then watch the anime. I liked the anime despite not being the best adaptation but definitely read it first.

I haven’t read the manga but the anime was kinda disappointing as much as manga readers were hyping up, so maybe read the manga instead
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

I watched the anime first then started reading the manga. I would definitely recommend you watch the anime in sub if you want to get the emotion of the story. The manga is an easy read. I haven’t noticed any difference in the content yet

I would say, is kinda faithful to the manga but the bad directing, bad pacing and make it worse
Anime or manga is your choice but:

If you just like artistic things or great voice acting/soundtrack, then anime is better to visualize

If you want good drama-thrilling or want to attach your emotion/feelings to the characters. Then the manga does better 100x time

But make sure to read/watch both :)

The manga is fantastic, especially if you are interested in a more in-depth look at the artistic process.

The anime pays more attention to the story and to pacing than it does to elaborating on every technique and detail, but it is still done beautifully.

My recommendation would actually be both, though. The most enjoyable part of the anime for me was getting to see all of the works realized in colour.

The anime is also a volume or 2 ahead of where the English translation of the manga is at, so if you want the full arc the anime will have it sooner than you’ll be able to physically read the official translation.

LML specifically how does the anime lack character development? the anime isnt even really meant to be a direct adaptation of the manga even. While the manga focuses more on the technical development of the art, the character writing of the story is the main strength of this series. Especially when it comes to the MC. Someone who has spent their whole lives trying to be an academic hardworker must now find the true essence of his identity by objectifying it into an artistic modality. The scene involving the drawing of his mother and how that helped him realize what she did for the family every day was just heartbreaking and a real tearjerker. There will ALWAYS be issues with fidelity when attempting to transpose a still two dimensional medium into one that represent a fluid story in motion. The platonic idealism of still images represented in frames, along with the dialectic beauty of written text gets compromised when implementing such dialectics through a mode of conversation. What SOUNDS good on paper can come off as corny when brought into a scene. I think this is a unique interpretation of the manga and really attempts to establish itself as a separate medium.

seven arc messed up the phasing trying to cram 6 volumes inside a 12 ep anime
so manga > anime

Well OP is asking which is better, the manga or the anime? and even if they're both separable mediums, at least one of them is unique than the other from my own preference and like to make it clear, one of the better, whether it'd be the story or the art, I'm very generous with both of them equally but more towards the art incase of Blue Period as the story itself is already remarkable on it's own, I was expecting a well contrast and fluid visuals delivered in the adaptation solely because it's an art series lol and the anime did try their best to deliver those and I won't really make further criticism if you're thinking that both have separable mediums plus I assure that you're an anime-only for this so my apology for ruining your enjoyment and see me become this cynical, I do think our view just differs a lot but still I'd recommend anyone to read either the manga or watch anime conditionally towards their own preference, if they want a colorful and including some sounds, then go watch the anime, but if they really want a depth of art and better pacing, go read the manga.
