What makes this movie a masterpiece ?

There’s probably nothing I can say that will convince you that it’s a masterpiece but I think it is one because of its depiction of bullying, depression and redemption. Following Shoya’s journey throughout the film is very cathartic and all of the visuals and visual metaphors are great. It dealt with serious topics very well, while also being entertaining.

Masterpiece is a strong theoretical word that doesn't apply to anything in my opinion, as everything is subjective. Regarding the movie, you can argue that it's very good thanks to its complex social commentary and the animation.

Although the movie can be abridged and blunt at times, but then again, masterpiece or not, that's for you to decide but personally not only this movie is being carried by beautiful visuals, it also helps to tackle the subject of bullying impressively well. Even most of my friends irl and online enjoyed the movie too and easily got the moral and learn from it :P

The manga is much, much better, one of my top 3 manga out of the ones I’ve read, if you’re fine with reading it. The movie is great as a stand-alone, but since I read the manga first, I was so disappointed. Some things that are similar kinds of stories that I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about are Your Name, Fruits Basket, 3gatsu no Lion, Oyasumi Punpun, Nana, Violet Evergarden, Your Lie in April, I want to eat your pancreas, and Banana Fish

It’s great as a stand-alone, but that rating’s probably from ppl like me who read the manga. They cut out so many details from the manga, to the point where the movie’s drama all felt forced

I would recommend you Princess Mononoke it's a real masterpiece for me and maybe Hayao Miyazaki's best movie

I'm suprised that this show still doesny have a above 9 rating.
Granted I dont think its the best of the best but this movie basically did make me cry from the start and didnt let up.
The viusals and metaphors are great,the subject matter at hand is dealt with beautifully,the characters are given a good end to their characters and..yeah.I loved it overall

I fell in love with the movie as soon as I began it, I totally agree with calling it a masterpiece!
Not sure if it was the plot or the charecters themselves. Sad, interesting- left you wanting to know what happens next, hoping the charecters would be fine. It really touched my heart- GLAD TO KNOW U LOVED IT TOO <3

This movie is a masterpiece because the animation and soundtrack are top tier. Furthermore it deals with the themes of redemption, suicide, and anxiety in a way that many have found emotionally impactful and helpful.

Koe no Katachi, Kimi no Suizo Wo Tabetai & Kimi No Nawa are like Big 3s of anime movies based on slice of Life events for me

What makes Koe no Katachi a masterpiece is that it doesn't tries to cross the limit, it conveys its message in a magical way where you really feel that you are being with Ishida and experiencing his thoughts process, you can always feel bad for Shouko and the side Characters are quite well written as well

For me Nishimiya's character was too realistic for a person with physical disability

The inferior complexity of youths nowadays plus the suicidal thoughts overtaking their minds just to escape the problems/ mistakes of their life & the way it was represented with beautiful soundtracks and ost was just top notch

A perfect 9/10 for me, but still I will call it a masterpiece

Mononoke was the first anime I ever watched. I was 9 or 10 and I watched it three times in one day. To this day it's still probably my favorite. It's one of my few tens. Also I believe a silent voice is a masterpiece.

People have their own opinion on this topic but for people who consider it a masterpiece, it is for the depiction of bullying, life problems, depression and more topics woven beautifully into a single movie. It also isn't afraid of hurting us. It touches the heart and buttkicks our emotions. Personally, I think it is a masterpiece and deserves the Oscar only if the judges considered something other than the disneys or pixars

I think most people loved this movie because of the relatibility they have with Shoya and the other characters. Cuz you know, depression and bullying has been a pretty common thing in our society. And i think when you can resonates with the characters and the story emotionally and psychologically it would make the experience 100x better. Because me myself, i loved this movie cause of how much it impacted me as a person, and how much i emotionally attached to the Main character (Shoya).

Yeah i think that's it, people who loved this movie are mostly because they can relate and emotionally attached to the characters.

But dude you can't deny that IWTEYP has better collection of OSTs starting from its op, ed & then Himitsu (firecracker scene), prologue, someone not me (diary scene), truth, words that i say casually

In ASV, the only remarkable ost is Lit(var) & tell me if you remember any other so that i can listen

So definitely IWTEYP has better OSTs collection, animation wise I can give ASV an upper hand generally, anyway both are masterpieces for me

Personally, I think it's not just the complex theme and social commentary on the effects that bullying has, buts it's the characters. Shoya's redemption arc was really well done and phenomenal. I think the movie does a great job at this by not making the audience root for him like we're supposed to assume that he deserves redemption. That's up for the viewers to decide and the movie does a great job at it. This movie is probably my second favorite anime film, my top pick being Redline.

I think it's a movie you have to connect with. If the topic is something that you can connect to then you are going to enjoy it.

If you can't relate with the topics nor the characters then I guess you won't find much.

I would say the way it depicts bullying and it was realistic to me. Definitely something that made me cry due to being bullied my self and I felt for the characters.
