Both are good in my opinion, but Naruto is the popular choice. I've watched a few episodes of each, but I found reading the manga was better for me.

yeah these shows are pretty old now so fights and pacing aren't anything special so I've seen many ppl continue from the manga in the middle or even the start. Though imo it still is worth the time in Naruto's case.
