I'm curious what everybody's favorite anime is. Or anime genre? I wonder if we are all different in our tastes, or if there's something in the drinking water and we all tend towards similar things. It might be fun to find out.

I am not too picky about anime. I will watch nearly anything, and I enjoy a lot of different genres. But my personal favorite genre is fantasy.

It was recommended to me recently by a friend, and it's really very good. I think you might like it.

i dont have the one favorite show so...
TLDR; slice of life: haibane renmei or mushishi
horror: mononoke(tv)(it kinda looks similar to gankatsuou)
my picks for the underrated and unseen: kyousogiga, wixxoss, blood blockade battlefront, the entire garden of sinners series
comedy: i don't laugh at things, i just smile so nothing here. theres too much out there to choose from.
my favorite sakugafest: either redline, children of the sea(it is goddamn gorgious) or promare
ever since i watched the videos on it's philosophy and lore(i am begging you i am not being pretentious), i could not for the life of me get ergo proxy out of my damn head. i find the yoshitoshi abe trilogy, (haibane renmei, texhnolyse) pretty interesting. though i am so impatient so i couldn't get through texhnolyse. waay too gruellingly slow.

what i generally like comes in catigories:
1. anything that sets a very specific atmosphere, be it mushishi, haibane renmei, wolfs rain, terror in rsonance or kaiba
2. anything that has an element of weirdness, be it boogiepop, kaiba, paprika, space dandy, the night is short walk on girl or anything like that
3. any balls to the walls hype/sakugafest like initial d or any trigger, shinkai, or non-moe kyo-ani anime
4. when they goddamn teach me how to play a sport or game and/or get exited for they do be it beck, chihayafuru or something else
