This show focuses too much on side characters and not enough on Sakura and Nozaki

Why does it feel like Mikorin and Kashima have more episodes than Sakura? They're interesting characters but I honestly don't find the side characters' comedy funny enough to warrant them as much screentime as they got

Eh I feel like their screen time were equal tbh because Sakura and Nozaki spend their time together at Nozaki's house to do their manga things, also there was an episode where it's supposedly a "date" and I thought it's a cute moment between them but my man Nozaki just referencing things to be part of his manga xD Side characters are always interesting and they all have different personalities too; Mikorin is the two MC's mutual, Yuzuki didn't receive much screen time because she's definitely busy with her competition and exquisite talent!

Hiro and Kashima does receive a decent amount of screentime too and both are hilarious together but it's only when Hiro is the one who's being aggressive towards Kashima's charisma <- which what makes the anime enjoyable, and forgot about the other dude who Yuzuki beats the shit out of during the basketball match but he seems like a nice innocent guy, I wanna see more of him tbh. Moreover, I wish for a Season 2 to see more screen time between the two main characters <- and not sure if there's any romance development in the manga but I still have hopes!

I felt like everyone's a mc and that's what makes the show so good. If it focused too much on a romance that wasn't gonna happen then people might've lost interest since every episode was the same.

It adds dynamics and plotlines (also how dare you say Mikorin isn't funny enough)

Edit: also I just checked and they're all listed as "Main" which is pretty accurate

Just from the first episode l knew this will never be a romantic anime you can just tell it is supposed to a comedy. Haven't read the manga maybe some development later probably not until 100 chapters atleast.

It's true. But I believe that the show pretended to have two seasons (at the final episode an unknown guy appears) so they were giving a proper introduction to all the characters.

It's an ensemble show, i think it does a great job exploring the dynamics between the many possible character combinations. The manga develops all relationships a bit more, really slowly.

They are not side characters. All of them are the MCs. As others have stated, it’s an ensemble show (As the person above me said) and it follows the other cast daily life because that’s what it’s supposed to be (Not just Sakura’s POV)
Mikorin, Kashima and Seo’s absurdity are what makes this series such a blast. Maybe you didn’t find them funny enough because you expected more Sakura and Nozaki interactions (Which they almost never have in the manga) and the story is mostly about the whole cast comical antics. Ps: Seo best girl.

I like the side characters and the development of them. But yeah I completely agree!! Wish there was more screen time of those two's interactions. By the way, Is there currently or is there going to be a second season? or was that that the actual ending in the anime?

It's adapted from a 4-koma manga, something like a Comic Strip (like Garfield). It's supposed to be like that, a collection of Sketches.

Filler would be something like happens in Naruto and Bleach that follow a plot line but they are added unnecessary episodes to their lineal story.

For the episodic / plotless format of this show doesn't apply the same.

(This type of anime is better watched Sporadically.)
