| I thought it was gonna be a cute shoujo magical girl type show. Unfortunately, that was just a tease. It is a cringey, oversexualized fever dream. The score HAS to be just based on the art, music and animation because the story and characters are so bad. Pretty art and animation don't make a show good. If it takes 10 episodes to "get good", it's not good. |
| I didn't like it that much. The story is not that hard to understand, but I started to feel bored after a few episodes. Some people will find this anime very charming since it has some unique traits regarding storytelling. The only thing I liked was the coloring, everything looks so beautiful and vibrant. |

| If you are in for symbolism and literary fiction, then it gets somewhat better (deeper and more focused on symbolism) in the second half. I kind of find its message more confusing and over the place than say Revolutionary Girl Utena, it is inferior to Utena in that regard. If not for symbolism I would have dropped it over the unlikable female characters. |

Penguindrum is one of those shows that stays in your conciseness for a long time. Despite me not understanding it fully, it prompted me to seek it out and try to comprehend it. What I find fulfilling is finally growing to appreciate its message, presentation, and a certain style and vision that Ikuhara had for the series. People said that this anime is confusing at first ,so just wanna know when did u starting liking it ,after which episode? I think people who at least appreciate these aspects would love Penguindrum and his other works too. |
