The conclusion!

Kaibara goes against the gaudy reputation of the Japanese wedding banquet, and provides basic vegetable bento for those of whom Teito/Supreme Menu are representing. He conveys yet again that he is a stodgy traditionalist, but people eat it up (literally) because of who he is. I'd like to see anyone else stand up there and excuse this meager meal without being publicly shamed!

Yamaoka and the Tо̄zai/Ultimate Menu side take it a little further by swapping the usual meeting hall setting with something more in tune with nature: a former daimyo property turned into an art gallery and oasis from metropolitan Tokyo. Filled with various wild grass and other plants at this location, the reception serves only stuff that the marrying Tabata and Arakawa have picked on-site. There is even a callback to the previous Ultimate/Supreme vegetable battle.

There are no victors. Except the couples! And their families! And friends! And work colleagues and bosses!

That's it! Well... not really. There are two feature length OVAs that follow this; check them out! There are live action adaptations, too. And of course, there is the manga that started it all and continued well beyond the anime's end. So if you want to find out what happens to Yamaoka, Kurita, Kaibara (and maybe even Niki), be sure to read what you can! The English publications are divided by food categories, so they are not chronological and are incomplete. Hopefully, the whole thing will one day be translated. Furthermore, perhaps the series will come out of hiatus (which it has unfortunately languished since 2014...) and we'll have even more tasty stories! Itadakimasu!

The manga compilations were made at the height of the manga publishing boom and I doubt the series will get an official complete translation any time soon with the mangaka's fall from grace. Word of God is if they ever let him come back from hiatus, he will wrap the things up- after all it's been 30+ years of Ultimate vs Supreme and the zeitgeist has moved on. Still all in all, I enjoyed the manga collections when they came out (over a decade ago(!)) and if you liked the anime, give them a chance.
