Started good then wasted the potential

ok this is probably not a popular opinion seeing as the MAL score of the Manga is so high, but the way i see it Horimiya started off great. promising and engaging, but after the first third of the story or at most the first half of the story(120 chapters total), it became a "nothing burger". the conflict was barely there, it became a snooze fest, character development was hardly there, all the guys except for maybe one were all so annoyingly feminine and fragile, and it just felt like the Manga that had a great premise and had a good start to it, just lost it's direction after some time and from then on it just kept drifting and drifting until it silently and uneventfully ended. honestly i feel like after the 2 main characters cemented their relationship at around chapter 40 or so i think, pretty much nothing happened until the Manga ended. it became almost completely episodic and nothing very interesting in these chapters anyway.

It's a really common critic , even among the fans.

I've heard that the Manga pretty much adapted all the chapters of the webcomic once hitting the 60/70 chapters mark... ?
So it may be one of the reason as to why there was this dragging feeling to the 2nd half.

Edit : Oh , and the score was even higher some years ago.

that's why I like anime more because it just cut all that random stuff from. The series because after 50 chapters it gets really boring so I don't know why people hate anime just because it's removed the side character stuff.
Ratings doesn't matter only enjoyment does.
Masterpiece or mid, generic or fresh,best or worst are all subjective
Eren is goat,and aot is still a masterpiece (eg.subjective opinion)

Even if the Anime cut a lot of those boring dragging scenes later in the Manga , it also cut a lot of some very nice moments , especially in the early episodes. (Be it Slice-Of-Life , Comedic or Romantic scenes)
And there was the pacing issue... The pacing was really disjointed/weird.

Even if the Anime has some great Animation & Voice Acting , it's not enough to make me love it more than the Manga.
i personally think the Manga was above , and i'll re-read it over re-watching its Anime anytime.

One of my favorite Wotakoi gets the similar complaint like horimiya. But that one still have enough development at right moments, and much shorter. Horimiya on the other hand is stand still about most things uptill the end sadly

it does have a wasted potential, it became your everyday romcom from like chapter 60 onwards

but do I complain? Hell no, I enjoyed every single chapter from start to end, though the first few volumes are obviously the best

I can see where the critics came from, they aren't wrong

Just watch the anime bro,they cut all the unnecessary content from the manga.
