Would you like to see more jrpgs set in contemporary settings like in Earthbound?

As much as i love the sci fi or fantasy settings, i'd think it'd be cool for like more Earthbound style settings with trippy storylines based on Childhood trauma and the both good and bad aspects of it.

What do you think?

Well, I hated Earthbound, so probably not.

RPGs set in the future however, like "Cosmic Star Heroine" are pretty cool sometimes.

I'd so play Earthbound on the switch because i never got to play it as a kid.

I rented Earthbound for the SNES back in the 90s, but I never understood what the fuss was about. I loved Lufia II, FFIV and VI, Breath of Fire, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and various other games, but Earthbound just wasn't my cup of tea.

I liked Earthbound and I agree that there should be more games with similar settings or even settings that are not simply fantasy/sci-fi.
I really enjoyed Yakuza LAD for being a JRPG in a very unique setting aswell.

Hell yeah, EarthBound's a treasure and some of my favorite RPGs like the older Pokémon games and TWEWY are technically set in modern settings.

That Japan imported visual novel Sakura Note, which i just finished its like Earthbound in a sense with the modern setting as well as the, jrpg elements and focus on childhood struggles and a touch of 5 centermeters per second with the sakura blossom themes.

And of course!! gotta love both games!! and as always PLAY THE ORIGINAL GAME ON THE DS AND F THIS GAME TO HIGH HEAVEN!!!

Earthbound inspired RPGs are so passe and bland.

I prefer my traditional fantasy setting which makes me excited for FfXVI

No, because I think Earthbound sucks. But I also think Final Fantasy IV and Undertale suck, so it's probably not the setting that's the problem.

Alot of people are really wanting to see ff go back to basics in its medeval roots so you're not the only wishing for that

I have not played Earthbound yet. But I do like those sorts of settings. So my answer is yes. Perhaps I should play it next?
