no.

I thought it was so-so. The art was average and the characters look a lot different than the manga. I'll probably keep watching though since I like the manga :)

No, it's Special A and Skip Beat combined.... with a maid costume. That's the whole premise right there.

eh... disappointed.
Thing is, I can't really pinpoint what I didn't like about it since it followed the manga quite faithfully and I enjoyed the manga version.
Hmm...

I rolled my eyes a bit in the first half with how quickly they were characterizing kaichou and making the disappeared dad the convenient vessel for her angst, but I thought the show on the whole was pretty cute by the end and I had a big goofy smile on my face when Usui embraced kaichou and fended off the punks.

I guess I'll be following it.

Well, for one, I'll definitely say that I like the manga better. The characters seem a little off as to what I was thinking them to be like...well, Usui mainly, but come to think of it his "suave" side didn't really kick in until several chapters later, so I'll definitely keep on watching. Though one thing that struck me as odd was how it felt very...cramped, like it was various scenes stapled together, it makes me rethink my opinion on the manga after realising how very true to it the anime is, though it doesn't really matter in a manga, but it didn't carry over well into animation very well.

Complaining over.

But I still loved it, Usui was just as dumb yet cool as ever, pres was just as mega-awesome tsundere and it was pretty a-okay to look at to boot, I think now that the introduction part's out of the way it will definitely flow better (and I can't wait until the idiot trio become...well....the idiot trio that I know and love).

But it's a definite watch anyway, in respect for the manga. Auto-enjoy.

i don't like it..
i like the manga version wayyyyy better
i though the anime version would be the same good as the manga version..
but....
i really dissapointed with JC Staff
and i feel sorry for Fujiwara Hiro-sensei
she could ask other producer to adapt this series..
i also hope that IG would adapt it..
but i guess it's too late..=_=''
i hope i really could enjoy this anime series..

i hope they remake it with a better quality one..
anyway..i cn't wait for the 2nd season of K-On!

Ok, I've seen the first episode and it didn't really hook me in. And the jokes...tbh, I didn't find them all that amusing. I also agree that the school uniform's design is off-putting. But now, the maid outfit is a big win though. Masaki looks so cute wearing it. Animation was so-so. Characterization-wise...I will still check out the next couple of episodes just to see how they're going to develop the story and the characters.

Well, im sorry, ill probably be the one to say this...but to me they dont look like Hikari and Kei at anything. No Special A resemblance to me. not pysically and not even in personalities. yes they have some things in common, but not all. Misaki is not naive like Hikari and Usui is more relaxed than Kei. And physically...maybe only in hair colors, but that´s it. As for the genre, Special A is much more comedy than Kaichou wa maid sama, i think. But that´s only my opinion.

Haha I hate Kimi ni Todoke also LOL.To be honest this anime has a slightly resemble of Kimi ni Todoke.Hope this anime don't get too smushy-mushy.but since Usui-kun such a bad ass and handsome, i think the story gonna be jumpy ^^

I liked it. I don't think this is THE show to look forward to this spring season, but I'm sure it could be worse.

Art is okay. I haven't read the manga, so I can't really compare nor do I want to (manga will almost always be superior compared to its adaptation).

Either way, this show has potential. I hope it gets even better.

It was an alright first episode.

But I have to admit, the ending theme does NOT fit the anime at all.

fangirls everywhere really.

just random fanservice that Usui will grow into when a little further into the anime.

Ayumi Fujimura did a great job, loved her voice, voicing mean girls.

This reminds me of Skip Beat, which is a good thing.

I feel like they got lazy with drawing the background. To what animes are today the work seems second-rate.

Other than that it started off okkay.

Now that I've gone watching the entire episode, all I have to say is... J.C. Staff didn't put all their effort into this, I expected Toradora-like awesomeness. Also, with the weird background music and weird backgrounds, are they trying to make it like Kimi ni Todoke? Well, it's not working. Continuing to watch, the op is catchy.

Ok, the firework scene suprised everyone, but there's one more thing int the ED....

So I wonder how many episode there will be. Likely 24. It would be unusual but great if there's more (like 47...) so the story could progress succesfuly.
(ok, just my foolish hopes :))

Those who complain about the backgrounds: do you know about Honey and Clover/Nodame Cantabile/Aoi Hana? These were done by J.C. Staff (before Kimi ni Todoke), using the same backround art style, and were excellent shows. It's not lazyness, or KnT copying, it's just an art style that they are using occasionally.

I'm sure alot of people here already said it but the art is very dull.
I looked at the background many times to see if i was imaging things but i wasn't.
They seem to only use one color or at least alot of greeen 0.o
And the plot seems rushed I was expecting him finding out at the end not at the begining

When you compare the manga to the anime, you'll see that the manga is much better
But overall I think this anime is worth spending time on

More specifically, Shichiro Kobayashi (at 78, he's one of the last people still doing traditional hand painted art) is in charge of the backgrounds. Quality is on par with his usual work, with minimal detail and simple pastels saturating each image.

I'm aware that not everyone is fond of Kobayashi's style though, especially in an age when everything is digitally painted (including modernized imitations of watercolor).

Starts off OK, gets pretty good Towards the end, I like it so far
I'm just a big visual novel fan but have also watched quite a bit of anime and played a bunch of games. Avatar is Mashiro from Making*Lovers and Kotori from Rewrite.

Well, since I haven't read the manga, I came into this thinking it was going to be another anime full of fan service....and I am glad to say that it isn't. It is a bit more slice of life, comedy, and romance than simply "look here at this half naked maid that often somehow seems to end up in positions that show here panties by mistake!" for an entire season. It is fairly funny so far (lol at her sister) and I kind of like Usui's indifferent off-putting attitude. Anyways, I will definitely continue watching thi series and I hope it gets even better.

Because the concept is similar ;)

It was quite a nice start to the series, but I will restrain myself from commenting on Usui, for fear the fangirls may eat me alive...

So far my favorite character is the sister.

read the 1st chapter of the manga, yeah the artwork looked better in the manga...
but for me, Misa on anime is more bishoujoish u know :D
on manga, she have very average face for shoujo protagonist standart (ex : if you compare her with Mogami from skip beat )
But on anime she surely looked better IMHO

so gonna stick with this until the end

This reminds me more of Kare Kano ._. Very similar...

Roughly drawn BG, but characteristic; I just love soft and pastel style art. I had not much problem with character design, since I've never read manga.

Kinda refreshing start. Generic shoujo, but good first impression for me.

Edited: Why JC staff is getting all the blame for the art?... They use that kind of BG occasionally, like in Nodame. :/

Great animation, it looks really nice.

Apart from that, it has a good story which I'll keep on watching. One of the few shoujo anime I'll be watching and I hope it keeps on following the manga counterpart :D
