Another one I was excited for. Lop and Ochō is definitely a great story, at least for me at least. It’s 20 minutes so it has time to tell a story, but it ended on a cliffhanger and I really want to see more of it. Lop is cute! And I one thing that’s been excellent for all of the stories that have it is the more traditional looking blades for some of the lightsabers. This one episode is definitely a highlight of the anthology.

From the PV itself, this was the episode I was most excited for, and it didn't disappoint. I really love their animation style and it really worked well in this setting. This was another best of the series along with episode 5. Just like with that episode, this one had a touching self contained story and also left room for more. The characters are really likable, the animation was stunning, and the story itself was touching. Another couple of minutes added to the run time could have helped a lot, but as it was, I would put it tied with the 5th episode as the best of the series.

Oof, subtitles are a bit out of sync on this one

Imagine showing a fruit market in Star Wars and *not* using Jogan fruit, SMH. Kidding aside though, this episode is absolutely fantastic and exactly what I wanted to see from this series. Some of the ship animations are a bit jank but eh.

One minor knitpick, and it really doesnt matter because this show isnt canon, but that imperial officer is... apparently an ISB admiral (judging from his rank plaque)? Just... an ISB admiral on some industrial backwater? And I cant find an up-to-date reference for Ocho's plaque, but it looks like they just mirrored the colonel plaque. So they just gave her a rank equivalent to hero of the Clone Wars and all-around GOAT Wullf Yularen? Again I cannot emphasize enough that this super does not matter and rank plaques are kinda dumb and arbitrary to begin with, but it still bugged me just a tiny bit.

Gorgeous style of animation, very old school yet also modern in some aspects.

The overall theme of the episode was also beautiful as sometimes things like DNA, inheritance and etc are irrelevant in the act of establishing a family.

Design-wise this was the best, while story is episode 5.

That tsuru emblem is tattoo worthy.

I really enjoyed the character designs and the background designs. Felt like Japan embracing the change from being isolated.

Really good episode, has made me definitely wanna check out Golden Kamuy now. The animation was stunning, the music ugh it was so good, and wow this show has had some amazing lightsaber designs, from the umbrella in episode one and to the classic katana style sword in episode 7. This one was a bit longer again, but in no way is that a bad thing it gave some time to lay out a really nice and heart felt story about family, tradition and how everything is moving forward. The ending definitely makes me want more from this as there’s a lot they could do with how they left it. This episode is definitely one of my favourites

So Bunny girl vs Samurai girl turn imperial trooper, funny how did Bunny girl learned about the force that fast, what's more funny was how was that Samurai Girl turned imperial troop girl doesn't seem to hurt much.

Easily top 3 for me along with The Ninth Jedi and The Duel. Like TNJ, the story they told in the amount of time they had was pretty good, and ended in a way that makes me want more of this story in the form of a full series. And of course, the action scenes were fire.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Kind of late, but looks like we're back on track as this one feels like it does indeed take place inside the star wars universe, and at the same time looks quite good as an anime. This is what I was hoping all of the episodes to be. Plus the furries will be happy with this one. This is probably also the one with the most substance behind it as well, because it's got FAMILY! I'd like to see this story continued. 5.5/10

Done with a retro feeling, back when you could write a fantasy or sci-fi story with anthropomorphic talking animals and make them actual characters instead of walking weird fetishes.

Loved this episode. I wasn't expecting much, but it went above and beyond my wildest expectations. There is a very strong theme of family in this episode that I very much enjoyed. The only thing is that this episode left me thirsting for more. I hope we get a continuation or something.

Episode that went deepest into Japanese culture inside Star Wars. It was almost weird seeing all those stormtroppers in that enviroment. It felt simple but also sweet story with an open ending. Im beggining to see a pattern here with these open ending. I really liked the world building and characters.

It has the same premise with STUDIO TRIGGER's THE TWINS with siblings on each different sides, but I actually prefer LOP AND OCHŌ than that just because it has more emotional depth. Although, it would be great seeing a montage of Lop with her new family training before seeing her receiving the family's lightsaber. I'm confused on how Lop just has the connection of the Force out of nowhere, I guess that was her "Nexus Event" when TD got destroyed? Anyways, the visuals are great but would love to see more development though.

Is Lop a furrybait? I think she is.

Other than that I didn't expect the story to grip me in this episode with just 20 minutes. The anime truly was gorgeous as well.

The only issue I have with this episode is that Ocho makes the most sense. We know the Empire is evil because we've seen the movies, but that doesn't mean any action against the Empire is justified. The father appeared to kill his own men and almost killed his adopted daughter just to spite the Empire. I don't like how the story just hand waved that away.

The central problem is that protecting that planet and opposing the evil of the Empire are mutually exclusive. We see how Ocho choosing the path of subjugation and collaboration caused the Empire to take a lighter hand. We know they would have just sent in storm troopers to destroy the mansion and kill everyone inside if Ocho did not collaborate. Lot and her father are morally justified in opposing the Empire, but that doesn't justify doing the equivalent of a Banzai Charge. It would be nice if Star Wars remembered that the Empire is the most powerful force in the galaxy and fighting against it required good planning and judicious actions in the few places where the Rebellion could win.

Despite the conventional Star Wars plot, this was a terrific episode. Loved the family theme here, which has always been a staple of Star Wars. Ocho started off so kind, bubbly, and bright eyed, but it appears her obsession with protecting the planet and her family corrupted her to the dark side. Just like Master Yoda once said "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering". She likely feared losing her family and planet, which lead her down the path to the dark side.

I liked Lop a lot, but I wish she got more time to talk. It felt like it was either Ocho or the Father speaking the majority of the time.

Loved the aesthetic of this one too. Everything about it just clicked with me. Would love to see a continuation considering the brutal cliffhanger it was left on.

The animation style was pretty good. I love it.

Unfortunately, the episode makes little sense. I was expecting the loli alien to act as a neutral character who can understand both sides so she could reunite her family again but her character was reduced to another Jedi simp.

Besides it tries so hard to portray the Empire as evil and that dude clan/Jedi as good, the way the Jedis are introduced with that lightsaber is extremely forced. It makes no sense when we have a lot of sci-fi objects in the Star Wars universe, she's fine fighting with just that. It wasn't really necessary to force the introduction of a lightsaber in this episode especially when she probably never used one before his first battle. Also, I dislike the fact the evil sister survives to that mortal attack, it was similar to the last episode where the padawan survives bc reasons.

Story-wise is a bullshit episode with an obvious anti-Empire bias.

Enjoyed the family setup, people turning evil for the greater good is a classic old EU setup. Ultra detailed artwork, cool animation, had robots and actual aliens. Felt pretty close to OG Star Wars. The twist on jingi and red lacker was great too.

What a fucking masterpiece.
After the dead episode 7, this episode was so colorful, detailed and full of life. The face expressions, the energy of the voices, the sound and emotion. Every single second was so purposely made and the end result was just magnificent.
I wish Geno made more anime. At least I know the next season of Golden Kamuy will be gold.

Holy shit! That was so good! My favorite, and I honestly doubt the last one can change that. This by far have the most fleshed out characters and characters relationship. I legit want a full series out of this.

Tbh, this is The Twin should have been, Lop and Ocha are actually fleshed out and have interesting dynamic. The twins were just a waste of good designs.

Interesting take on Star Wars during the Galactic Empire age.

Story was okay. Nothing special, but pleasant to watch.

What shone the most was animation and awesome looking art. It looked as if the art was influenced by several other art styles, but remained unique and consistent on its own.
