The mangaka passed away before he finished the series, therefore a season 2 was never created.

The manga continues a little past where the anime ends but Daisuke Sato passed away before he finished the story and rather than continue it with another mangaka they chose to discontinue it

The mangaka passed away and there isn’t much material in the manga regardless. So no there isn’t and there will never be a second season.

The story continues a lil more after the anime but I there is not enough material for a season 2 , the lack of material is caused by the sad passing of the creator. But there is enough material for an ova but don’t think it would be coming about
