do any of you know what this is going to be? i’m confused

Its an anime adaption of the akira manga series that will probably remain faithful to the series, unlike the original movie which deviated from the manga's story at about half way through (because, at the time of its release the manga was still ongoing)

It's not "probably" going to stay faithful to the manga. It's been confirmed to be faithful by the creator otherwise he wouldn't remake it.

Also the manga had the same ending except everything from volume 3-5 was looked over too quickly so unfortunately the ending made a lot less sense.

The ending of the movie and manga were completely different wym.

what's with sunrise studio? it's been 3 years.

It must be at least as good as or better than Akira.

oh hell yeah, I just finished the manga recently. Haven't watched the movie but I know about how it differs, so I literally recently thought to myself, "we need a reboot of Akira as a series so it can follow the events of the manga better". I'm really excited for this. I hope they do something special with the art/animation style to give off the same vibes the movie did.
