Are they cousins? In the first chapter the grandfather says she’s the spitting image of your granny, which of course implies relations, and then the most recent chapter says seems staying at a relative’s house.

So, are the MCs cousins?

Taiki's and Chinatsu's moms used to be teammates iirc. Chinatsu might have just said "relative" to her friends because it was easier to explain. And the spitting image of his granny, I've heard similar remarks pretty often in other stories. It doesn't necessarily imply relations, just similarity and praise. It might've meant that Chinatsu is as good looking and gives off similar vibes as the granny.
