I'm up to chapter 196 in the web novel (half-way through 4th volume), and I feel it's been ages since the series peaked (2nd volume). Is anyone further ahead in the web novel, does it pick up again? Spoilers are fine, in fact I prefer them.

Have you compared the web novel to the light novel yet?

Then probably not yet. I've been reading the light novel, and so far, from my perspective, it keeps improving with more world-building and character development, improving with each volume. the story shifted its focus from just Allen to everyone else in his party and showed more background story, such as how it tackled the conflict between two countries while still focusing on the main plot, which is to defeat the demon lord. Finally, in the latest Volume 7, the novel stands out due to the author's creativity in taking advantage of gaming tropes like exploits, and how the world was reset, meaning angels would slaughter everyone each time someone finds and makes use of said exploit and how it ties the loose ends on what happened with Rehzel, the Demonic Deity who attacked Rohzenheim. I'd even say this novel is a long-term commitment for readers, like Youjo Senki, as it has more details to truly flesh out the story, which, in turn, makes it hard to adapt into an anime with only 12 episodes per season without leaving important details for the lore. In summary: I'm bad at writing replies like this, so I recommend to just check it out.

I think they would need to give it a treatment on par with Mushoku Tensei if they were going to adapt this where they maintain the aspect of world building and growth of MC, Allen in this case. A second season could then look at Academy city onwards for a bit and focus on the rest of the No-life Gamers. Then use OVAs perhaps like Reincarnted as a Slime to throw the side stories in. Just my thoughts. |

@ProsjektAero Yep, but sadly, those kinds of opportunities don't happen that often.

@HarveyHans I agree, but I'm pretty happy to get to enjoy this as a novel regardless of whether there is ever an adaptation or not to anime.

I hope it'll be an anime someday. I have read probably close to 300 light novel books, and so far this is my favorite series bar none. Ascendants of a bookworm, and mushoku tensei come pretty closely after that, but I placed that above the other big two, and the known big two I would say. [Spoiler] The only thing I will say, is wft next for Allen specifically?
