Curious if this is a good Intro to Anime

My friend got recommended this, and I haven't seen it but he was curious if he should watch despite not having seen much anime. The only thing he's seen is Death Note (which he liked). So is this a decent show if you're just starting anime?

Well, there's is a chance that he might like it since he haven't really seen much to compare it to. But it's pretty bad (edit: really bad actually). Probably my least favorite show so far.

Well, this anime is by no means a masterpiece but it's quite entertaining, so I would say yes.

Its a near perfect gateway anime
Supper dark and edgy:check
One sided,simple plot:check
Gigantic plot holes that can oly noticed by long time anime watchers:check
A sh*t ton of girl in every type for your taste:check
What else could you ask for,this show is like a 14 yr old wet dream
The only better gateway anime i can think of is SAO bc it had all of those plus being a MMORPG

well there is very big potential, but all of that is wasted. it's so flowless, doesn't feel anything, has got awful comedy. but it has got very big fanbase so u can watch.

I am a huge fan of akame ga kill and it was also for me one of the first anime I watched.
For newbie it's really god start I think.
I've got only one problem with the show: at some point it has a different story line and I like the one from the manga a lot more. But it's still a very god anime.

It is a good starter anime since the action is gory and well done. Lot of people hate on it, but if you just watch for the fights and fun its great. I would say other recommendations but don’t know if he ok for Soul Eater or Attack on Titan

This is my fav show. It is short, have lovable characters, cool fight scenes, good drama, nice music and fanservices, dark theme but light plot, cute love stories. It's a balance of anything anime fans love.

if he liked death note then I think you should recommend code geass to him he might like it too

It was like the 3rd anime I watched and at the time I definitely enjoyed it a lot, definitely more than I should’ve. Now that I’ve dived into others it doesn’t hold up as well in comparison. For a starter anime I’d say it’s good though!

It is a great starting anime. Akame ga Kill was the first anime series I watched along with Berserk (1997) and its responsible for introducing me to anime. If you think he likes shounen action stuff, he will probably like this.

I think its better to watch it earlier than later, since it has many flaws which you probably overloork when you're fairly new and thus are able to enjoy it.

It was one of the first anime I watched, and the first one that was recent. Personally, I love it. Loved it so much I own a full manga collection of this, the prequel series, and the sequel series. It's probably better to watch earlier on, cause it does have quite a few flaws, which are more noticeable if you're a more seasoned anime viewer. As one warning I'll say that the show is DARK. I'd say that this is darker than Death Note, but it's definitely not as smart as Death Note; Akame is more of a popcorn action show, than a philosophical chess match.

Not the best entry to anime if you want to recommend a good anime for a newbie just go with demon slayer or an Isekai as it hooks alot of people fast.
