Tokyo Revengers is Just Ok

We are almost near the end of Tokyo Revengers anime show and thus I feel like it's the right time to state my opinion. Initially, I did suspect that the show might not be as good as the hype made it out to be. But even then, I was ready to give it the benefit of the doubt as at time I was only 4 episodes in. And now I have come to the conclusion that my spider sense was not tingling for without any reason.

I personally have not read the manga and I am judging the show on its own merit. Many people made the show out to be some kind of behemoth. I guess the manga fans hyped it too much. I feel like the animation is lackluster along with the art style. The biggest parallel that is being drawn here is with Re Zero. Now, I know that one is a time travel show while the other one is a isekai time travel. But at the end of the day, the similarities cannot be denied. Tokyo Revengers just lacks the complexity, emotion and the psychological trauma that makes Re Zero good. The OP is also much better in case of Re Zero.

In conclusion, I feel like Tokyo Revengers is a show that is just an ok adaptation of a supposedly awesome manga. Will I complete watching it? Yes, I will. I am enjoying the show and will also watch the subsequent seasons, provided that these do come out. But, the truth is that no one will remember this show in 5 years of time as it was never destined to break the internet.
