| No MAL, Off Season is not a sidestory. most of Off Season's story arcs take place after the events of Final Season. The story arcs build on the arcs of specific characters, showing another step in their growth/development since we last saw them. Just because there's no specific emphasis on Araragi Koyomi does not mean it's a "side story". if that were grounds for it, then i suppose that'd make 2nd Season a "side story" too, wouldn't it? and keep in mind that Off Season does have arcs narrated by him, and they take place 5 years after the events of Final Season. Monogatari is and has always been a series of stories that progressively build on what came before. Off Season is no exception to this as the majority of its arcs DIRECTLY builds on the narrative threads of Final Season. describing it as a "side story" to 1st Season is rather misleading when Off Season does to Final Season what 2nd Season did to 1st Season. I don't know where this idea that Off Season is just a sidestory came from, cuz it's reallly not one at all. |

| I made a thread about haruhi suzumiya s2 not being side story. It's probably the same reasoning in this too Everything is a prequal to monster except the last arc which is a sequal. |
