(in the works; categorized alphabetically by creating studio/group, works by year of creation)

For the purposes of this list a "fan parody/fanparody" is an amateur work relying on non-original anime footage that incorporates original dialogue (either subtitles or dubbing) for its narrative. This will typically exclude works that might otherwise fit the genre "parody" including edit parodies, overdub/commentary, and AMVs, (specifically "hell" videos). This list primarily exists as an easily-located reference index for those seeking to track down fan parodies of the past. For the most part it is concerned with the pre-Abridged Series era, and while it does not exclude them if submitted we're not prioritizing their indexing because distribution for that genre usually was readily available from the start.

FORMAT:
STUDIO/GROUP/CREATOR NAME - [Website]
Title of Fanparody - DUB/SUB; YEAR, RUNTIME(00:00)/[Series]

[To contribute, please provide title, studio/fan group, year of creation, and length if possible, also where to get it/studio website]

I have a guy out of California that used to be in the tape trading network. Still distributes on a limited basis. Unfortunately his fanparody collection isn't that big. Nekosama used to distribute a bunch of other people's stuff in addition to their own, but all but their titles list has been down for ages. I'm still working on efforts to track them down. :p

There's a lot of fanparodies out there that could potentially be lost short of a preservation and digitization effort.

Regardless: awesome to meet you. ^_^ Anyone involved in the oldschool fanparody production scene is a friend of mine.

Hello all!

I'm Scott A Melzer from NoN.D.E. Fanfilms, the director of "This Is Otakudom" and "S.T.E.A.M.: The Movie" (and our much delayed third film, which is hopefully finishing up soon).

I ran into this club while doing some research on Anime Fan Parodies and saw that you're trying to put together a list of parodies. Way cool. I can definitely help there. In addition to trying to create my own films, I'm also a parody historian and collector. I'm trying to build up and preserve as many of these films as possible for showing at conventions (I'm the department head of the "Fan Produced Videos" department at Otakon, and also do parody screenings at several others). I have quite a few on DVD or digital files at this point, and can flesh out your list. I can certainly answer many questions you may have as well as tell you where to get ahold of copies yourself.

First off, the "Pretty Sammy" parody you're talking about is "Musical Downloader Girl Pretty Sue-Me" from CDS Productions. It was never finished, only abandoned. There is missing music, sound effects, and an intro that's 90% done but... I'm trying to get Bobby "C-Ko" Beaver to polish it up, but the "in-progress" version is floating around.

Emi: Awesome that you were in CDS' stuff! I'm sure C-Ko would love to hear from you. I'm good friends with him (he's helped on all three of our projects) and we communicate often. He's married, just had two adorable little girls (twins!), and is sad that he can't find female voice actors for a new project he's working on.

Panda: Let me know how I can help. I know a lot of the creators personally as well as other people I can put you in touch with.

Take care and have a great holiday season.

Mr. Melzer, a great honor to be in touch with you again. ^_^ Sorry I haven't replied sooner. You won't remember me, but hopefully as the club name suggests you'll recall the Fan Parody Panic panel at Otakon in which I participated.

I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one that was struck by the idea to start an effort to preserve fanparodies. I've been making my own efforts to track down copies of everything I can. Some groups have not been as forthcoming as others.

Your presence and assistance is highly appreciated! I'll stay in touch.

There was also No Lyfe Productions, from the Austin, TX area, who made "Panzer Dragoon: When CGI Meets LSD", "Lodoss: The Accursed Festival" and "The Adjusters". I was on their mailing list back in 2002, shortly after I saw them at Ushicon 1. They were planning on sending out copies to interested people on the list, but it never panned out. I'm still trying to get ahold of copies of these.

There were THREE new parodies at Anime Central this year!

One from NoN.D.E., for which I cannot remember the full title. Perhaps Scott will pop back in and can give it. I remember it starts with "Fanboy Soze and the", and I am pretty sure it has the word "Otakulypse" in it.

The second was from the guy that made IndeOn/Off, and was titled "Macross 7.5½" ("Macross Seven Point Five and a Half" if your browser didn't display that properly).

And the third was a long film, by fandub parody standards. The title was ".WoW//Signs of Addiction" and was by Martian Law (http://www.martian-law.com/).

Edit: haha. I see you already have Fanboy Soze listed. Probably because it aired at Otakon. Serves me right for not checking the list for updates before posting!

edit2: add Martian Law url

Gladly. :D List has been left a bit derelict, but we'll get there eventually.

Relevant entries from the Corn Pone Flicks filmography added (at last). Fixed a bunch of bbcode nesting issues.

Quick update, having finally confirmed the runtime on Zero Production works and digging up the small stuff by one Sara Villanueva. This appears to be a different "Ranma 1/3." Aardvark Anime info dredged up from the depths, hoping to follow-up with one of the team members this year. Updated list for Seishun Shitemasu as much as feasible given data limitations. Neko-sama Productions updated with best available information.

Project Ray-ko info finalized. Partial Martian Law update. Format and spot updates on runtimes.

Merged GRAAC with NasakeNaiFilms entry. Anyone who has a narrative explaining the full course of Five Horsemen to GRAAX, Nasake, Over-rated, etc--please share. Sokodei's data is finally completed as far as we know. Verssen Werks is green except we haven't tracked down release years for the Squeal series yet. Magnum Opus now has complete data.

White Radish has turned into a rabbit hole. Anyone with additional information please let us know. I'm trying some snail-mail leads to see if we can get in touch.

Does anyone have a digital copy or a viewing location for Martian Law’s Flying Wombat 2? I was involved with the making of it but don’t have a copy, and the animeparodys.org website recently closed (March 2020).

A copy exists in the archive somewhere but I don't know of anyone hosting it for online viewing if fanparodies closed permanently.

I’m new to this website. Are videos in the archive accessible to download from?

I'm referring to my archive. Like I said, don't know of any other place that was hosting it. MAL isn't a video website. I'll drop a line to the guy running the website, I was on that project when it started.

I also only found out the animefanparodies.org site went down. don't know if the guys had any issues or just let it lapse and have just moved on. the Martian Law guys had created and done all of the site. We just helped get content up on it. Nasake and I have reached out to them to see if there's anything else we could do to help.

I have copies of pretty much everything that i've used at shows over the years and a good amount of the other afp.org stuff that i hadn't.

This is gavv btw, long time parody dub fan and host of Midnight Madness at ACen, AWA & elsewhere in the past. And creator/producer of Magnum Opus Productions in the list above.
Misc note on the MOP entry as an aside. Ken P is a friend of mine and was from UIUC (U of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana) and did FGX1 himself with other Illinois fan groups. I was mentioned only as an in-joke in one line of dialogue. I was convinced to start doing my own stuff and started with FGX2 (and also became the FGX1 'steward', heading up various remasters).

I spoke with Omid in April about it and it's a temporary down due to costs. I have an expanded backup that should include everything that was on the site.

Ok, cool. If he'd want to discuss the issue with myself and the NN guys, if this is something reasonable to be able to group together and support, I'd be interested.

Would you be willing to send me a video of Martian Law’s Flying Wombat 2? You don’t have to if you’re not comfortable with it.

If people have access to copies of anything, listed or otherwise, please drop a line. I recently became aware of some additional material that's heading to the Lost Media pile.

Pulling some more archive data I've found reference to a number of fanparodies that aren't accounted for in the existing list. Any information someone has on them for the list, as well as potential copies, would be appreciated. This was harvested from Nekosama's old website. I've listed the entire compilation tape to hopefully help in location, titles not accounted for are bolded.

Collection of various fandub and fansub anime parodies.
*Vol. 1: (Evangelion-Episode One, Fast Food Freedom Fighters, Anime True, Ranma 1/3, Kenny-Death & More Death, Record Of Lodub Warz, Fire Tripped, The K Team, Dragon's Lair III, ID5)
*Vol. 2: (T3, T4, Tenchi & The Masters Of The Universe, Anime Iron Chef, Gundam 0069, Shinji's Prank Call, Kakumei Kard, Death Racer)
*Vol. 3: (Roadbusted, Evangelion Mentos, Wired MD, Koko Wa Otaku, Voltron-Hell Bent For Leather, Roadbusted Outtakes)
*Vol. 4: (Robotech III-Not Necessarily The Sentinals, Octopocky, X Files 2030, Koko Wa Otaku 2, Kalec-The First Parody, G Farce)
*Vol. 5: (Kinki's Delivery Service, My Love Slave Totoro, Laputa 2, This is Otakudom, The Show, The Ambiguously Yaoi Duo)

Notes:
[Vol 1 - Kenny-Death & More Death might be NEON GENESIS SOUTH PARK by NekoSama, but it would be odd to have a different title on the maker's own distribution page]
[Vol 2 - Gundam 0069 is probably UC:0069 The Join Years the by Seishun Shitemasu]
[Vol 5. - The Show is probably Combattler V: The Show by Trigger Mortis]
