Discord Screen Share Problems

So a friend and I wanted to watch some anime together with me sharing the screen through discord screen share, but when I started streaming to discord, it would only display a black box in place of the media player.

The rest of the website was fine and we could navigate to other media players and they streamed fine, but all the stream and therefore my friend saw was a black box with a play/pause button and a video progress bar.

It is notable to add that other video and image capture software didn't work either, OBS, Screenshots, etc. So I am inclined to belive that this problem is website side and not discord side.
