So I couldn’t wait for fall season to see 2nd cour so decided to read the manga but there’s one thing that confuses me, when did the 4 year time skip happen? I saw when Rudus reunited with his father he said that 4 years has passed but can’t recall when a time skip that big happened. I’ve read from chapter 26-37

I don't think it was a timeskip, but a regular passage of time. Not 100% sure, but I think Rudeus was meant to tutor Eris for five years. After a year after leaving to tutor, the Mana Calamity happened, leaving Rudeus ro travel for three years until he reunited with Paul. Tho I'm not 100% sure.

Rudeus was 3 years old when he was trained by Roxy. He was tutored for 2 years. Then he spent 2 years teaching Silphy before he was sent to Philip household to become Eris tutor. He taught Eris for 3 years. The Calamity happened. Rudeus and Eris spent 2 years traveling through the Demon Continent. It took them 1 more year to reach from the Port (Where Roxy was at) all the way to city where Paul was located. Those are the 4-5 years that you mentioned. It wasn’t a timeskip, just story progression and time passage.

The manga is very inconsistent and skips way to much content literally an entire volume as well. Doesn't help that the tone is changed and makes it comedic. I highly suggest you read the LN instead. It's notoriously hated by most fans of the source material.

ok thx, felt really weird that so much time has passed during only those chapters by only story progression but they must have just skipped a lot.

I'm not much for reading the LN unless the anime/manga doesn't cover everything. Even if the manga doesn't cover everything it feels like a waste reading something twice. I also don't really think the manga (or anime mostly since I only watched that from the 1st season) is missing anyting that doesn't make sense of the story but maybe Im wrong

Sorry for late response but the anime only adapts a good 1/4 of the content in the novels (understandable because its an adaptation and its limited to 11 episodes) and the manga even less maybe around 1/16 though I might be wrong since I read the web novel not the light novel but i'd assume its around the same. And with the manga around chapters 28 -54 absolutely butchered the original content screwing up events that take place as well as the personalities and overall development of the characters. You can find the web novel on wuxia blog or u can message me and I'll send you a google drive of pdf's of the light novels.

There is no time skip until the point of story covered by this season.

Not in the light novel, nor in the manga.

The only time skip in the manga is about Rudeus "Quagmire" adventures, after the last episode of this season.

All the rest is regular passage of time, with some minor details or scenes skipped in the manga (and probably in the anime too, since sometimes the anime was even more rushed than the manga in the 1st cour).

Well, if we think this way, all MT story is a huge sequence of timeskips, since Rudeus was a baby.

Do you know how much time is skipped in this time skip cause I was wondering.
