i am 30 chapters in and am wondering is it gonna get better. its like 1/3 of the manga done and theres only been one fight and no character development. does it get better if so let me know

There will be many more fights and the character development here takes time. I think you are in the prison arc. I personally find it get's much better after this arc ends. If you still don't like it then drop it I guess

There's actually 171 chapters not 108. So you have read about 1/6 of it. In my opinion, you should keep reading it. It's worth it.
