I haven't seen the movie in a few months but I think we were to assume she died as a result of the attack at the beginning. But it wasn't clear.

well, we cant say that it means she is not Dead or not. Maybe He meant "if she was alive" or something like that.

likely not, but I see what you mean as that's actually a pretty neutral statement. When isolated it can support the idea that she is either dead or alive but given the context it's pretty clear that Racine is dead, as is the fate of many of the Lorphs after the attack. Also realize that such a saying is most commonly used when someone is dead
