Mangaka said he doesn't want this to be animated since he was disappointed with the Azumanga Daioh anime.

However, I have the feeling it will get an anime when it'll end.

I actually think Yotsubato will do perfectly fine in anime and it sucks to know the mangaka doesn't want an adaptation. The reasons are valid and no one can refute it if the author themselves said it, but I still hope the possibility isn't solid zero yet.
I love K-On, and so should you.

It seems that's just a false rumor that has been circulating for years. He was not unhappy with Azumanga Daioh.

"Azuma explains that the reason that a Yotsuba&! anime has not been attempted so far is the difficulty of adapting its idiosyncratic storytelling."

Azumanga Daioh was a kickass anime too. It's one of my all-time favourites.

Some of you mention the reasons why the author doesn't want the anime. Now is there a reason why there SHOULD be an anime adaptation for Yotsuba?
"Chimp in state of nature never jerks off, but in captivity he does, wat does this mean? In state of nature he’s too busy, to put plainly. He is concerned with mastering space: solving problem of life in and under trees, mastering what tools he can, mastering social relations in the jockeying for power and status. Deprived of this drive to development and self-increase he devolves to pointless masturbation, in captivity, where he senses he is in owned space and therefore the futility of all his efforts and all his actions."

So anime only watchers can discover this gem that they wouldn't go out of their way to read manga in the first place.
