Suppose, You are a great artist, who wants to publish manga. Shounen Jump editorials are wowed by your art capabilities. They hooked you up with a contract which ensure you that you will have your own manga and that will 100% get an anime adaptation.

But... your art style need to be more refined. So, SJ wants you to study under a famous mangaka.

Now question?

Which mangaka will you pick as your mentor?

My answer is this man : Naoki Urasawa

Satoshi Kon, of course.

I know how I would have a chance to talk to him...
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Kafka, Fu Xuan, Jingliu, Topaz and Huohuo.

Syun Matsuena, the author of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. The series holds a special place in my heart and I really like his art style (especially when it comes to drawing female characters).

Kentaro Miura, if I were to ever be a writer/mangaka I would most probably write a dark fantasy and there's no better example of that than berserk.

Damn, this is a hard question, there are way too many to choose. I would say:

Hirohiko Araki

Naoki Urasawa

Inoue Takehiko

Tite Kubo

Takeshi Obata

Kentaro Miura

Eiichiro Oda

Sui Ishida

Yuusuke Murata

Makoto Yukimura

And there are definitely other incredible mangaka out there as well!

People are entitled to choose whoever they like.
It's just that given how popular One Piece is I imagined that he would be selected in the first few posts!

Hirohiko Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) or Aya Azuma (various Touhou Project manga, most notably Wild and Horned Hermit.)

I'd be tempted to say ZUN for how great his manga are, but since this is about refining my art I couldn't really say ZUN. He's certainly gotten better at drawing over the years, but ZUN's strength is definitely in writing over art...

As much of a fan I am of Urasawa Naoki, I'd probably pick Eiichiro Oda.

I don't see myself ever writing a genuinely serious manga like 20th Century Boys, I would absolutely try to be more light and insert comedy, and Oda seems to be one of the better picks for inserting comedy into a series that isn't solely about comedy.

Also, Kaitani Shinobu. Like I said I wouldn't make a completely self-serious manga, however I wanna know how the fuck someone would write something like Liar's Game. Understanding a complex game is one thing, it's another to actually create a complex game without stumbling and making it feel contrived, so I'd really like to know how the fuck he does it.

I would have to choose between Naoki Urasawa and Kiyohiko Azuma.

Both primarily for their supremely intricate backgrounds and ability to create a veritable kaleidoscope of unique characters.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Ishida, Sui-Tokyo ghoul(only if I'm making a seinen my favorite art style so far)
Horikoshi, Kouhei-My hero academia or Matsumoto, Naoya-Kaiju no 8(If I'm making a shounen)
